In terms of entertainment, LOTR kind of out rules star wars.
But in terms of impact or popularity i think Star Wars, Lol it was like another Star Trek  :conf:

SW on the other side, Star wars is a total mind blowing, spectacular movie.
It has action far beyond simple medieval war which is nothing more than people running one against which other.
Star wars has the drama. The slave boy that becomes a jedi, his son that meets his father while battling him. Two brothers that fall in love.
Star Wars has plot, a plot that has all elements. Even political plot, the trade federation, the twist of the republic...
It has the best science fiction there his, remember that it was conceived in the 70's but yet they thought of things that were only invented after, like computers and holograms.
George Lucas is the father of special effects.

Star Wars is in the future..  LOTR Middle Earth the past and fanasty.. both are Unreal, but I watched Star Wars in 1997 when they came out again for Special edition very cool. I like both trilogies, but Star Wars is better. Hint* Watch the movies in the original US format its much better, because you get the original voices of the characters and I am sure they sound much better.
