UK faces European Court over immigrants' benefits

The UK is to be taken to the European Court of Justice over its alleged failure
to correctly assess whether immigrants are entitled to benefits.

The European Commission has accused Britain of discriminating against nationals from EU member states who have been living and working in the UK. It is alleged an extra test is applied to see if they are eligible to claim. A British official said he could not comment about court action until the commission made its decision public.

Standard test
But the official added that the British test was a vital and fair tool to ensure benefits were paid only to people who were legally allowed to live in the UK.The BBC understands that the commission is convinced the UK is breaking EU law and thousands of people may have been unfairly denied benefits as a result. The commission will announce it is taking Britain to the court in Luxembourg because of the way it assess whether EU nationals are entitled to benefits. The EU has a standard test that is supposed to be applied by countries to determine a migrant's eligibility for welfare payments.

Refused allowance
The UK uses an additional test which the commission said was discriminatory and may have denied thousands of migrants access to benefits such as child tax credit. In one case it is claimed an EU national who had been working and paying taxes in the UK was refused jobseekers' allowance after she was made redundant. BBC Europe correspondent Matthew Price, in Brussels, said it was unusual for such cases to be brought before the European Court and it could take years for a final judgement. The announcement was certain to infuriate those who believed Brussels already interfered in UK government policy too much, our correspondent added.

Maybe Cameron will be issued a 69billion euro fine, knowing the EU, and will quickly let UKIP into power so we can have a fast withdrawl, would be an ideal situation.
Why should migrants be allowed to travel to other countries to sit on benefits just because their own country doesn't have them? Get a job.

"People grow up with a dream of receiving welfare from western democracies."
"Immigrants doesn't work, and don't want to work."
"Immigrants from non-western countries are a treath to our democracy and freedom."

We hear the same phrases in every single European country, except the very few that has managed to ignore the gasping requirement for humanitarian asylum from the Middle East and Northern Africa. I do not blame you, though. This is normal in economic crisises. I see the UK are struggeling a lot. A 69 billion pound fine would surely not be helping, though, the fine is only symbolic. It does not necessarily have to be paid.

You have agreed to be a part of the EU system. With the EU system there are a lot of positive factors, yet, a lot of negative factors. One of them is the loss of suverenity and loss of democratic value in your own land, transfered to Brussels. You may also say one of the four freedoms; free float of labour; is a negative thing. Though, the UK is not sufficient with workers on its own.

I don't know how people can say immigrants don't take jobs, I mean for that 1 immigrant that comes in and gets a job, that could have been a British persons job, I just said £69billion sarcastically, what I meant was: Camerons EU is all happy and skipping across daisy fields until he's in the shit house, I don't know why he does his best to keep us in, there is no reason for us to stay.

Immigration in a nutshell except for the last sentence.
Some(Probably most) come to Europe for a better welfare, yet they're that lazy that they refuse to work and live from the supporting funds provided by the government.

Though I don't really care much about immigration unless it's becoming a problem, like keeping themselves alienated and trying to oppress their lifestyle upon the host country, or taking most of the job market leaving others without any chance.

The UK and all western European countries will have more problem with those illegal immigrants who are floating inside Europa at the Hungarian borders. Just mentioning some countries... Afghanistan, Phakistan, Bhanglades, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Kosovo... and many more nationalities.

Last year the Hungarian police (at Csongard county/Hungarian-Serbian border) captured 3000 illegal immigrants and transported them back to Serbia.
This year.... we didnt even reach the half of the year, the number is already 5000 illegal immigrant detention.. but 90% cant be transported back to Serbai because they ask for asylum.

The Hungarian police is capturing almost every illegal immigrant.... but the UN laws are so weak... everybody who is claiming for asylum they must be transported to a camp wich is not guarded (they can move freely in that town, wich means they can move towards to the western european countries without intercepted) and they have more rights then the arresting and guarding officers have. So dont be surprised if many "new faces" will show up in your town soon.....

Hungary is already facing with the problems... and these illegal immigrant's crimes.... (thieving, mugging, assault and battery).

As usual people are shouting without having the slightest idea what they talk about. EU laws (which are incorporated in to every member state) state that all EU citizens are entitled to benefits in the member state they live in.
However each member state has the right to revoke staying permit if the immigrant becomes depending on social welfare within 1 year.
If an immigrant has lived and worked for 3 years, there is nothing that should stop them from receiving benefits.

Do not roleplay a veteran on discord, be a veteran in game.
