Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins has appeared in court accused of raping a baby.

The singer told Cardiff Crown Court he denied 24 charges including two counts of rape of a child under one-year of age, one count of sexual assault of the same child and one count of conspiracy to rape another baby.

Appearing via videolink, the 35-year-old also pleaded not guilty to the taking, making and possession of indecent images of children.

Unshaven and dressed in a dark baseball jacket, Watkins' hair appeared greyer than at previous hearings.

A statement issued by the singer's solicitor on his behalf said: "I want to thank my family, friends and all the fans for their continued support throughout this whole ordeal.

"Your support gives me strength. I deny all the allegations against me and I will fight to the end to clear my name."

The charges related to alleged offences committed between March 2007 and December 2012.

The trial is expected to take place later in the year.

That would be decided in court apparently,
For now it remains a possibility.

Would they be making so much fuss about it if he were not guilty? I mean look at Jimmy 'Pedophile' Saville, he was guilty.

What drives people to do sick things like this, what the hell is going through their head, fuck EU regulations, bring back the death penalty!
Why do we pay £30,000 a year per prisoner just to keep pedophiles, rapists, terrorists and murderers behind bars, JUST HANG THEM, nobody wants them out of jail, and we don't want to pay to keep them in jail, imagine how much of the tax payers money could be saved! They should do traditional public executions like in ~ ye old days ~ :D

If you have the ultimate proof, such as video of what happened in London the other week, theres no possible way they can be executed whilst being innocent.

But that's also going to have the effect of people not admitting their crimes for reason they know they will be executed. Under this system that you want the people who don't admit it won't get killed as they might be innocent but the people who do admit the crimes get killed. What a way to thank those for being honest and it's not really a good way to encourage people to admit.

But if you have very solid proof they committed the crime, and they still deny they did it, you have the valid proof to execute them, as you have solid proof of it, like video footage, DNA, pictures, and whatever else classifies as valid proof.

There still needs to be some leeway when people admit to a crime as what happens when there's no proof that they've done it. Sometimes a confession can make or break a case.
