That's where we're paying for.

That's not what* we're paying for. I mean, if you're throwing money at their palaces, I don't know, but the taxes your parents pay really don't go to the monarchy. :D

As there are many stories confusing reality let me make some things clear.

The reason he was moved to London was that he lived there with his family. Apart from there being excellent treatment is was simply close to home.

During his coma his mother Princess Beatrix, visited him very frequently and considering her age this put a strain on her health as well.
As there was little expectation of improvement he was moved not to a hospital, but to an estate of the Royal family, of course preared for his medical treatment.

Contrary to what is portrayed in movies, a human body is not made to lay in 'sleep' for long periods and almost all comatose patients get complications, only very few survive a long time.

As for pulling the plug, on one side his death was clearly unexpected, if it had been planned people would not have been on holidays.
On the other hand as his wife celebrated her birthday the day before, one can imagine a discussion between a mother and a wife knowing that the current situation just prolonged their grief with little chance to ever see the person they love back to his former self.

As good as medical technology is, when I get in to a situation where I can technically live but without any quality or expected improvement, I hope my family pulls the plug fast.

R.I.P. Friso

I researched Prince Friso only 2 months backs, when I was looking at permanent vegetative states. Very sad news for his family. Rest in peace.

It's a bit obvious.. He was fine, well, alive atleast in London, they moved him back to the Netherlands and OOH LOOK, DEAD.

He was officially discharged from hospital. I think one of the reasons he was admitted in London was because him and his wife Princess Mabel, together with their children were living there already.

A prince living in a country with a different monarchy? Hmm.

I can't help that you never paid any tax, I already passed the age of 15.

Most monarchies bring in more money for their country through tourism than they get of the countries taxes, so any claims that tax payers pay for the palaces and such is complete bullshit, unless it's a monarchy which doesn't generate shit.

The Dutch monarchy isn't even allowed to do shit anymore. Whether they want to or not. They've recently been stripped of their last responsibilities which the parliament now fulfills aswell. They're nothing more but an "image".

Thats pretty much the same for the British monarchy, other than the queen being head of state to the commonwealth, they have no real power and are now just a symbol of Britains past and tourist attraction, which DOES generate millions and millions each year for the UK, alot more than they get from British tax payers, Buckingham palace alone requires 3million + per year to maintain, thats not including the hundreds of armed service men which protect the royal family every day, along with all the policing and such, but they still manage to generate millions in profit, not for themselves, but for the country.

And I assume the Dutch monarchy is no different.

You're from the UK. You don't know how it works here.

The royal carriages cost already EUR 2,5 million a year. You think they're paying it from their pocket money?

The Dutch monarchy doesn't generate nearly as much tourism as the UK does.
Atleast the UK knows how to attract people and actually has something to show.

I did say I assume, and I guess I'm wrong, I just thought most monarchies attract tourism, especially ones with a considerable or long past with some unique tradition, doesn't the Dutch monarchy have that atleast?

Just watch this video.

Did you listen to all the youtube videos that said the world was going to end in 2012?
I didn't click the video but I thought I'de randomly say it. :-P

Mikal is uh... yeah, he's actually right here. :D
Bro, I'm always right! Unless I'm wrong, but then I'll still be right in some way or another. :-)
