It's gonna be really hard for me to make this whole topic, but...
I'm officialy quitting and leaving the Argonath community for good.
As I really have a lot of work on my back to do, and take care of my family in real life. As sometimes chatting on friends on Discord a little bit. I will no longer play any sort of games, including Argonath servers as of my difficulties.
And the main reason that I'm leaving is because of the community issues, as the server got broken down in half.
I will miss you all, and I thank you for this long journey on Argonath since 2012, these are gonna be my last messages on this forum page.
I wish this community the best of luck from here on out to the future, as we might encounter again in the future hopefully.
Goodbye everyone.

Maybe we need a goodbye section...

Maybe we need a goodbye section...
The following 2 rules are re-instated due to some goodbye topics.
Leaving, at all. Sorry, but the owners do not want anyone posting topics about themselves leaving.
If you are leaving temporarily, we have a topic to post temporary leavings in.
Technically not allowed but I don't get why not in these odd times. Sometimes people have to leave for legitimate reasons.
Cya around in a different life.

I agree. Should be allowed.

It sounds like a stupid rule to me, to be honest!
The player is going to leave anyway ! does it matter or is it going to change anything when you ban/punish him for making goodbye topic?
Good luck in your future adventures ;)

This is one of those times in which I agree with badboy. I see no harm in a goodbye topic just to reminisce on the good times Argonath provided, and to say goodbye.
Regardless though, it is up the Owners and/or Webmasters, whether we agree or disagree. My view on it is that it seems relatively harmless.
-
I think that the problem is that those "Goodbye" topics often end up used for attention whoring, with the player in question being back in two days.
I mean, I'm not talking about this particular person, but in general.
-
Can't really disagree with that one..
-
The community belongs to the players. If Gandalf decides to show up here insisting on a stupid rule while the community is falling apart, I'll be the first to remind him that he made an exception for Frank Hawk.
Doesn't matter if he comes back in 2 days or never, respect shall be shown.
Goodbye.

Precisely why the various divisions are doing their own thing, even if some of the stuff conflicts with Gandalf's views. I don't think anyone should limit themselves based on what Gandalf has said many years ago because there's little risk. He hasn't been on the forum in like 2 years, and when he does come around, he doesn't stay very long. The most that will happen is he will be on for a couple of days and tell leaders to stop with the conflicting rule. That's when leaders should do a pro gamer move and agree to it, then start doing it again when he's gone.
While I am grateful that Gandalf and Aragorn provided me a platform to have fun experiences throughout my teenage years, I think Gandalf needs to show up again rather sooner than later and make a decision on whether he should transfer ownership to someone more active, close everything down, or find a way to maintain activity. More and more veterans are just jumping ship because it seems this ship keeps sinking day by day. If he does not do this soon, he will come back with no one left.

Truth right here. I’m giving it 6 months. If no actions happen, it will be time to take action into our own hands.

I can understand the need's of a community seeing an active owner around, It is a crucial part of any active community having a owner/leader -
but I really can't accept that his inactivity is the source of all our problems in this community.
It is tough year for older versions of GTA all around with the huge competitiveness we currently facing, especialy for IV where It's my homebase, but I personaly never felt
that we were bond tied with Gandalf to see any kind of changes, small or big ones, most likely the Division Leaders and the community of each server is the ones that were leading and doing the big changes.
;)
EDIT:
With what being said above, I hope I made it clear for everyone that the owner is nothing more than a fancy title and with a good plan and dedication you can make yourself the changes you want to see for this community, as far those changes are aiming toward a better future for all of us.

I don't agree because being the owner or someone who has the power, to create new servers, assign staff, be able to change anything. A regular player can't do that, they don't have access to the servers. An active owner is required for a healthy community.
-
Yes, I agree @Badandy, this is what I mentioned above, "It is a crucial part of any active community having a owner/leader" and there is nothing to
debate about that, tho my point still, do you really think that we are bond tied with Gandalf for such changes you're describing?

I can't recall Gandalf being known for his activity even during Argonath's prime time. In fact, I doubt Gandalf or Aragorn or any of the owners for that matter, have joined the game at least three times the last decade.

.. and this is gold right here. Couldn't agree more.

Assigning staff can and has been done without any owners. Creating and maintaining servers and access to them requires an owner because no one else has access to spin up a virtual machine on the hypervisor and assign it an IP.
This access issue can be fixed overnight, I have told them exactly how to do it while addressing security concerns, but they haven't even read what I had to say. Folks can always pay for their own machine and host whatever in the name of Argonath. However, it is of my opinion that there is no reason to pay real money for something and submit it under the control of people who rarely log in, let alone consider advice on how to solve this issue so they don't have to be repeatedly bothered. I'd be completely fine with them being inactive if they gave someone who is active the ability to maintain and create servers.
-
Maybe the issue is simply we haven't changed in a decade. Sure the servers have been updated but a new server hasn't happened and stayed in a very long time and I think our playerbase is stagnating due to playing the same stuff.
-
Alex undoubtedly we all will miss you but I don't see any reason for leaving Argonath community, i mean i also have a very hectic routine sometimes it becomes very difficult for me to get a free time from university work but still i always try to get online for at least once a week...It shows my dedication & love for this community..No matter how much busy life you have but it doesn't justify your reason for leaving this community...i hope you would understand and i wish you best of luck for your future..👍

How do you people manage to do this in every possible topic?
This is a dude's goodbye topic and you guys are planning a take over? :hah:
Topic locked since it's gone too far off topic and partly because it's a goodbye topic.
