Well Greece won the Euro in 2004 due to a Set piece situation, no real dribbling or any skills whatsoever, anything can happen with a corner.
I think Poland will win the Euro this year.

after group stages we should arrange some in game bets about winning team... for now its really hard for me to predict anythin ;o

From group A I think that to the quarter finals goes 1. Czech Republic and 2. Portugal
From group B 1. Germany and 2. Croatia
From group C(death group where usually Holland is) 1.Italy 2. Holland but I don't know maybe also France
From group D 1. Spain 2. Russia though that group is very equable in skills.
SO in the quarter finals there will be:
Czech Republic - Croatia what I think Czech Republic will win
Germany - Portugal I have a hunch that Germany would win
Italy - Russia well, Russia is surprising us this year in every sport so I think Russia wins
Spain - Holland I think that Holland would win this match.
Semi-finals I think that the format how the semi-final matches goes is very weird but who am I to judge?
Germany - Czech Republic well I am for the weaker on this one so I hope that Czechs would win this one

Yesterday was great great match of two teams... Holland Vs Italy. Theese both teams has to be in Final. I don't know how to say... But You won't see this type of football in every day. On other matches then Portugal team is all head higher, in other match, Germany team a bit higher rank of 'football play'... Portugal Germany Holland and Itally. Its a teams which I want to see in Semi-Finals/Finals.

It wasn't offside, because the Italian fell there because he crashed into his own Goalkeeper so no foul there and because of that game GOES ON. Now because one of the Italian player is over the foul line the offside will be taken from foul line also, but Van Nistelrooy wasn't over that line so the Goal counts and no Offside.

Being outside means nothing at that moment, otherwise a player could go outside the lines at every corner.

Ok look, let me try to explaine it xD
Zambrotta ran in trying to save the corner, buffon came in also, both hitted eachother, reff didnt blow the wissle because they did it themself.
Zambrotta just lays down outside the line, while he could just ran back, annother mistake.
Van Nistelrooy see's it, Snijder shoots, Van Nistelrooy walks to the side and scoores.
Even the Italians knew it wasnt offside, they where pissed because of the "Fair play".
Dutch could also pass the balll over the line, and look hows it going with Zambrotta.
But that would be stupid, sinds it was just a act of Zambrotta to get a free kick.
The goal isnt offside, because the reff says play on when Zambrotta got down outside the line.
He also didnt say that Zambrotta didnt count anymore as a diffender, so Zambrotta was the last man.
And Van Nistelrooy was infrond of Zambrotta, so the goal counts.

It says in the rule book that if a player deliberately takes himself off the pitch to put an attacker in an offside position no offside call will be made.....it's hard to argue that he "deliberately" took himself off the pitch.
meaning IF he wanted it or IF the keeper wanted it is hard to prove fact IF he wanted it it wasnt if he fell it was but its like some tackles ..the guy may want to play the ball but breaks the players leg the rules just say you have to WANT it but still you get yellow for poor timing

First of all it is not the nr1 sport. Just like China, India and the US all have a lot of people but no traditions....but Russia was unlucky not to score in the first half... once they scored they already played a different game. Seeing Greece-Sweden, Russia still has chances.

And there comes out the different football cultures in countries. The Netherlands have to always attack because their defense ain't so good(read:sucks) so the only way to compensate that is to attack yourself. Also from your traditions Holland has always paid attention to Attackers and Midfielders. From there comes the attacking football(And I love it).
Greece, on the other hand doesn't have those traditions to raise good midfielder and attackers and only way to get at least one point from the game is to keep your goal clean and then try to hit the winning goal from standard situations(corner, free kick) where there are a lot of people together and the ball can bounce everywhere.

we all whatch on our national (public) TV its on in almost every european country ..its a bit our superbowl or world series the European and world championships(soccer) thats how it lives ..here whole streets are decorated with orange flags and banners and pictures its really a folk fest :D ill try to show a pic later if i find one

But when the 2nd half-time started and Italy took over the initiative and Holland stayed in the defense almost immediately Italy begin to have good moments to hit their goals. I saw at 2 times when their attacker were 1-on-1 with the goalie but they blew it themselves.

When Schweinsteiger came in.. Germans bacame more dangerous... He brought some spirit in the whole team.
Those defenders are good headers. Only they arent that fast. So playing against Olic makes them weak instant.. And besides, they also lost alot headers.

I did robben is wel known as an 'egoistic' player (in a good way :P) even in fifa 2008 one of his player charasteristics is "egoistic" (selfish ) but thats also his strenght

Congratz Holland. I don't know why, but few years ago France was my favourite team. But France changed alot. Frace was great on yesterday match, but... Not great at it used to be. At theese years my favourites are - Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Holland, Sweden. Thoose teams know what 'football' means. And... The game which I always I want to see is a great football. That game I saw yesterday. Both teams was same, but Netherlands had a bigger luck, and France... Lower luck :)

Where are Polish fans? Well i did not expect that this team wins the group qualifications. In last game i almoust throw my tv out of the window, because of their game. First 20 min. was like horror. As usual they suck in tourtanment... but well... go Poland.

France played good this game against Holland... I even thought they will make it draw...
But Holland changed in the second half and that was the best decision...
Holland has a bad defense, but one guy from defense (Bulahrouz) plays for all defenders... Almost all attacks were stopped by him, he is hard to be confused and always takes good positions, also he feels the game perfect... That is why I said - he is the best player in Netherlands team...
Among players I also liked Pierce... never saw him before (as many others), but his danger in attack i saw already in game against Italy, where they were lucky he shot at post...
Robben's goal was luck but not an accident... So to say "Holland won by luck" is not correct...
Henry in French team is good player, but "one on the field is not a warrior"... And btw his goal is also luck... :)
Though the game was amazing... Both teams were great... And I am sure many football fans could forget which teams they would like to support and enjoyed the amazing match by two teams with weird goals, good combinations and good scoring...

you noticed how first Mathijssen covered Henri but then Ooier did (Mathijssen couldnt stop him)..Ooier played good but also had a hard time but he is good with the header ..and Boularouzh fought like a lion I always was fan of his play.. he is a PURE defender

I do always pay attention on attack and middle zone... And this guy is the first defender I paid attention on...

I have to disagree... Why we have only 1 goal against has 2 reasons.
1: van der Sar; Goalkeeper, played fantastic...
2: Cuz we are mostly in the attack, and as Cruijf said "attack is the best defence"...
But when you saw the last minutes of the first half against France and the start of the second half. You could see how weak our defence is. The could walk up to the box without getting 1 defender in the way...
France had their chances in the first and second half, but mostly because of our goalkeeper it stayed 1-0.
Why had France such big chances? Because the defenders made the wrong choice in the wrong time...
Now everyone is talking about "wow they are so good" etc etc.
But Ronaldo WILL score such chances, a David Villa WILL score such chances. And believe me, if it was 1-1, it wouldve been a very different match.

Defending is not that hard when you attack with so much good attackers. It then is easier for the defenders if your in the attack whole the time.
And lets not forget, in the games against France and Italy they had chances to score. That was cuz of defensive errors. Also thats why i dont trust Hollands defence.
But lets hope im wrong...

Russia won 2-0... It could be 5-0... They played better then even i expected, and I did know they would beat Sweden cuz i always believed in the Russian team. They have some real good players like Arashavin and personally i admire Akinfeev, keeper. Always plays with peace.

well, the dutch defense is pretty weak,
but the attack and midfield are the best of the world, and our goalie also 1 of the best.
holland is the favorite for the title
and that blond guy is probably kuyt, not much skills, but he is running after all balls, thats good
and boulahrouz(and no, not belarus) is a pretty good defender

For me it was a **** game cuz i expected more from Portugal. Germany played like i was expecting, alot wrong passes etc.
But yeah the 1-0 was a good goal.
But also the other 2 goals from Germany were just lucky. 1 was a foul and bad defending. the second was also an error, Ricardo came out when he never should come out his goal.
And Portugal shot alot from far away. Also in the last minutes when you should cross the ball they just shoot... Really wierd, especially the self-seeker Nani.
For me a bad game. Weak Portugal and Germany who got their goals by present.

Turkey are repeating the Greece before - crappy team goes on luck all the time... Sorry, no offense to Turkey guys, but look at this honestly - just a big damn luck... Did not have any normal attack and one messing brought a goal...

Regarding the red card, if you saw the replay it was not really a foul. And Russia did not get a penalty when they deserved one. So it evened out anyway.

Russians were better, and they were always. Big compliment to them, especially Arshavin.
And you know why defence didnt suck those matches. Because Italy and France are two whole different play styles then Russia.
In those 2 matches we had more space for the attackers to pass the ball and look for opertunities.
Russia showed also how much lack of attacking power we have when you defend right and keep the space as little as possible.
And yeah.. Guus geluk did it again..

If you would see Spain-Russia 4-1 you will understand the difference of defense... Russia never had a good defense - every Russian here can agree with me... This match they the first time played good in defense... But that was also bad attack from Dutch... If they would attack non-stop - Russian would be confused...

I am very proud of my country, Turkey, even if it seems like luck. That last minute / second goals had saved us. And all happened after other teams' goals. I wish good luck to all teams. I hope we will win again but Germany is more succesfull is these tournaments our best rank was 3rd in the 2002 World Cup.

But with penalties if you will notice - referees are not that easy... They almost never give penalties... If they are not sure its clear penalty they will not give it... And I think its good... On matches of such level at least...

And the worst thing of the match that I've seen it's when Di Natale had the ball and, I don't remeber who I think it was Sergio Ramos, stole the ball then inmediatly Di Natale went out of the field screaming of his leg and suddenly to stop the game he moved inside the field and the refree told the spanish players to throw the ball out :mad:

Well i saw the match and in the minute 65 or something, IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME when the spanish goalkeeper stopped the ball with the right leg, omg that was a goal chance....
Btw spain had the most of the time the ball and they played better, their tactic was to make the italians tired of running from one side to other, but the italians pressured Xavi, Silva and other players....and it was a good tactic, but their pressure didnt win against us.
Also sergio ramos had some problem with the coach, the coach said that he was not in to the game, he was always listening music, confused, distracted..etc And he was supose to cover Cassano, he couldnt let cassano to get into their field, but shit happens and because of his mistake they cud have goaled, i think if we would have casillas italy would win

What the f**k is going on? The referee is calling the dumbest shit in favor of the Turks... it's complete crap.. he doesn't even TOUCH the guy and Bam .. whistle, free kick.. When we get sandwiched by 2 guys, nothing - just play on. There are also people in the Turkish audience blowing whistles to confuse the German players.. The last 5 minutes was played with 10 players on Germany, 11 on the Turks team. This is not fair football.. The Turkish goal was of course - luck. Went between his legs because it slipped out of his hands.. The Turks do NOT deserve to win..

The goals of Germany were amazing... 5 attacks 3 goals, and one situation that could have been a penalty or dangerous free kick.
Turkey played with their usual great spirit, and actually played their best match with a team that was damaged in many ways. They came close, but forgot that the last minute goal is an old German trademark.

Spain deserved the win today. They had the most chances and were just a bit more nervous in scoring as the last matches.
Yeah we lost twice big... but the only team that beat Russia was the champion...as usual. ;)
And Germany did a good job of trying to attack... only they stopped believing in the last moments. Also I am not sure if they should not have played without Ballack...

Its a shame Germany didn't win :(.
Although I felt Torres' goal was (despite the good finish) a tad lucky, Spain did have far more chances throughout the game, and played a much more solid match.

Hehe, guess your not a real Football fan, between Euro tournaments are always 4 years. And between that is a world cup. So in 2 years we have World Cup 2010, South Africa.
So next Euro is in 4 years. Euro 2012. :D

Hey guys the Germans treated their second place with respect to Spain...also respect their effort, they were not without chances and if they had been as dedicated in finishing as they were against Turkey it would have been a different result.....

I disagree.
Germany had some chances out of nothing... But if you are gonna talk like "if they would score that chance" "If they would score that.." then you can say the same about Spain too... And result would be like 3-6 for Spain. :roll:
