Argonath RPG - A World of its own

My story will perfectly show what is happening now, I just wonder why and how it comes. This is not a topic to put my problems in as I am capable of fixing those myself, it's just the fact that this does happen on here.
...Today I decided to join the SA:MP server for once, as I am quite busy in real life due to my work and personal issues, and thought about having a fun time together with other members of our community. I have experienced quite a few points which I would like to have explained from some people, therefor a public topic where I would like the opinion of more people.
3 years ago, I joined this server as an idiot (read: DMer, noob, whatever you feel like) and I got experienced in our community in a short amount of time. Yet still I had some problems with my attitude and people did not quite like me for this and I did not really made friends on here. After this time when I recognized that I became 'older' in a mature way I have been given the chance to be a moderator on SA:MP - this experience made me even more sure of myself and more mature the I was before.
This has helped me in real life and it was quite handy to use the experience of being an admin on my work. Everyone becomes older and wiser.....
..then rest the question for me. Why when I am having an arguement ingame, on a mature polite way - it's have to be that I am being called inmature and trying to be 'smart'.
Just take the fact that I have been an idiot in the past ingame, but I grow up aswell. I am not faking neither trying to be smart, but everyone increases their knowledge and experience on specific platforms.
My point with this is, it does not matter how long you are on here but please respect anyone on the same way you want respect from others. I have been grown from an idiot to someone with a bit of common sense - don't tell me I am faking please.
(if this was just one person, I would not post this - but it came to my mind that a lot of people seem to have a 'bad thing' on me or however you wanna call it. And it's not only me who experience that, it's a lot of people therefor this is public.)
-
get used to it. this happens all the time
-
Why creating drama topics about relationships with others? This is the peak of stupidity.
-
I know, but I am just wondering why.
Is it me who changed or became the community more harsh? It are a couple of questions who I like to see answered.
I mean I know it's probably not gonna change but is it me who sees it on another way or did people became more harsh?
@Altair: This topic isn't meant to show my problems with others. I mean, I can fix problems myself and I do not need people for this.
It's all about why people do NOT respect eachother and I used myself in such a situation.
Your reply shows enough of your respect towards others, doesn't it?
-
Things like this will make the problem worse. For the record, it's not called ADD any more.
-
I should maybe remove that part as it reflects on myself, while I am trying to point out something in general with my examples.
This topics moves to much towards me as person, maybe I've been wrong in putting that in - I'll try to see what it does when I leave it out.

No, I meant the whole topic. Reverse physcology.
-
Its not you. Its some of the people in the community who became more harsh and feel that they always need something negative to say or act in a negative way. They think its a way of feeling supirior over someone else.
-
I do not care what kind of topic it is. The most shocking is that it happens to a lot of people on this community.
And that it happened to me was a perfect example for me about what is my past and what I changed to.
A lot of people do not get any chance and get all the same picture on themselves; 'ah, he was an idiot before'.
-
This topic isn't meant to show my problems with others. I mean, I can fix problems myself and I do not need people for this.
If you say so above, why do you need a topic?
You could easily PM the person and ask him a couple of "suitable" questions. What he has against you or for you et cetera ...
You don't live in Argonath RPG. You live on planet Earth, Europe, (placecountryhere). That's life.
There will always be people who'll envy you or something else. You cannot satisfy them all.
Move on and focus on the supportive people, leave the haters alone.
Regards,

Once again, I am aware of the face Argonath RPG is not my 'living place'. It doesn't feel like that anyways, but it's the face that it looks 'okay' to do such stuff.
I am not hurt or anything by what happened to me, I am getting this at my work every day. I just wondered, isn't there a way people can be more nice to eachother and not look at the stupid picture people give. As in the end we are a community where we have to be together and have fun, instead of talking shit about people and just ignore who they are. And yes there are people who do not get satisfied by you and that's life, but there are people who are being bullied/shout at/flamed by groups in general just because people like to tell their own stories.
-
I just wondered, isn't there a way people can be more nice to each other and not look at the stupid picture people give.
Yes, it is possible. In Teletubbies world.
Depends on how do you define "nice".
You're trying to enforce your subjective view/goal on others now and that's not nice either. Some may misinterpret you.
-
I hate reading this.
-
Gotta love this topic, everyone agreeing that people should be retards...
Yeah Dumby, Argonath has changed, Been awhile since Argonath was a fun and a good place to go when you had too much in your mind.. I basicly check the forums dailies just to get into arguments at politics and religion board :D
-
Basicly what Aksel has said - get used to it, it will always happen such situations because they do not see Argonath as a "game".
There's some nice players such as yourself, Aksel and a shitload of them...
Just ignore homie.
-
What the fuck are you talking about
-
I made the topic for a reason and therefor I succeed and got some of the results I see.
I agree with Wolfe, that people just accept the fact that you can be a 'retard' on Argonath - and that was my whole point.
Why is it accepted with a lot of people, that being a retard is alright....people don't used to be a retard, so why it's accepted now?
-
Inciting argument. Comment removed.

Stupidity owns.
Bless the fooled ones because they don't know anything.
What I'm trying to say, you are getting disappointed in something that is set as a fact. People are evil, don't read the fairy tales! (Not offensive)
-

Why people accept to be a retard?
People need to open their minds, and think. While on the other hand, retards only seek for attention, and try to look 'cool'.
-
get used to it. this happens all the time
You earned a 15 day ban. Get used to it.
-
People think that being harsh, troll and asshole is cool now, let them be wrong nexxt, just keep doing what you do, and forget the haters.. ;)
You don't need them :).
-
Stupidity owns.
Bless the fooled ones because they don't know anything.
Stupidity is not a crime SIR
-
Everyone has big balls in internet.
-
I sure as hell hope Aksel didn't get a 15 day ban for basicly, stating a fact on Argonath's current community...
if that happened, I'm pretty sure to say that this has become a pure dictatorship, as pointing out any mistakes or bad things about such community is punishable with bans.
-

It's basicly some part of the community that wishes to act like this. Even tough they are punished, some members are confident in getting more 'respect' and 'status' by acting like this. Let me say that both of these words 'respect' and 'status' are not something to be hunted for. It comes automaticly as you grow along in the community and respect the rules. Negative attention shouldn't be always taken positive by those acting negative, think about it!
-
Didn't had time to read whole topic, but anyway from the Subject , I think everyone should be friendly between , no matter if they are criminal/cop/other group.
-
SG_Baker banned for nazism.
Could other trolls please continue here ? Kind of makes it easy to catch them in one place.
-
Its not you. Its some of the people in the community who became more harsh and feel that they always need something negative to say or act in a negative way. They think its a way of feeling supirior over someone else.
It's called superiority complex. It happens when one feels insecure about him/her self so they feel the need to become "powerful" and sit on a high chair and "rule" over others.
-

They don't necessarily have to be insecure. They do it because they like the feeling of sitting on your chest.
-

That's true too.
-
Everyone becomes older and wiser.....
This statement in my view point is invalid because i seen alot of people getting older but they never grow up...
It's called superiority complex. It happens when one feels insecure about him/her self so they feel the need to become "powerful" and sit on a high chair and "rule" over others.
Its not being superiority , the fact that a person objects your say or idea does not mean they are in self denial, pricks attempting to rule you.
Criticism is how we test out theories and determine if they work, conform to exeprince and might be true. If we dont want our theories exposed to criticism, then we dont want to improve them or even know if they are wrong. This is a fundamental issue of intellectual integrity.
Argument itself should be valued and shouldnt be the deciding factor to ban a player. Of couse, there are inappropriate times and ways of arguing, and these should be discouraged.
-
If one is rejecting an idea, they have the full right to do so. But when it becomes a constant habit towards EVERYTHING, it's the lack of superiority over others and thus they search of a way to travel over everyone in attempt to put themselves in a high chair. It's seen a few times on Argonath. Even happened towards me. Such users have the right to say versus someone, but if they go off saying, "this is a bullshit thread" or "Everything you make is just bullshit and not needed", it's the most perfect example that one may be having the superiority complex.
Firstly i would like to urge you, please use a normal font like other users.
As i have explained in my previous post players will receive criticism, negative comments and jokes. Whether you can expect someone to take offense depends alot on their personallity.
Another sense of being offended is that, even though you aren't hurt personally, you think the comment is inappropriate. You think it violates an important rule of etiquette, and you can't stand tolerating that kind of thing.
If we find ourselves being offended by a comment in this way, I think it should be a warning sign that your thinking about things poorly, and there's an opportunity for improvement.
-

I been using Arial font forever. It's something that I do.
As i have explained in my previous post players will receive criticism, negative comments and jokes. Whether you can expect someone to take offense depends alot on their personallity.
I'm up for that. There is never a time when each party is happy. One will feel otherwise and it's not possibly to make everyone happy at the same time. I, personally, do not take offense to any "trolling" or alike because it's just there to aggravate you to respond negatively to them, hence the term, "don't feed the trolls". Thus, I simple ignore such posts or report them as currently, I noticed a few administrators (and a owner) are (is) taking actions against them.
Another sense of being offended is that, even though you aren't hurt personally, you think the comment is inappropriate. You think it violates an important rule of etiquette, and you can't stand tolerating that kind of thing.
There always was, always is, and always will be ones who comment inappropriately based on one's view. Sure, you are not hurt personally, but you feel that someone else will. If we see these kind of comments, we should refer the commentators to tell them that such and such comments shouldn't be used as this or that user may be offended by it.
If we find ourselves being offended by a comment in this way, I think it should be a warning sign that your thinking about things poorly, and there's an opportunity for improvement.
Nobody is perfect. There is always room for improvement. I personally feel that this "debate" you and I are having is sort-of endless and will continue for a time. Personally, I am, in no way, offended to what you have said as it is true and a good perspective of the community in your view. Your morals, my morals, everyone's morals matter and it is this what builds us a true diverse community on here.
-
The whole point on this, is that I hate the 'mentality' which says: "It's just the internet, so I do not care".
I do not care about people on internet in general too but that's not a problem, so you do not have to care about people on the internet aslong as you threat them with respect and appreciation. On some point, even if you think the internet is just a place to troll around and screw up, you realise there are some places on the internet which are quite usefull. I used to get my problems on Argonath, to talk with some people, and it kinda helped.
It's not worth to screw around, all backed up by the lame excuse: "this is just the internet, get used to it'.
Get used to the fact that I am trying to get a more friendly atmosphere within our community and I would put anything into that what is needed. Be friendly with eachother because in the end, you need the other side aswell for a good roleplay experience or somewhat. Or would you like to get a boring life in Argonath, all on the same place and all with the same people. Explore your friendships and be nice, that's the whole thing I am trying to say. And yes I do want to be positive, as I have seen some improvements recently.

Exactly on the spot. If one feels the way "it's just the internet, I don't care" then they should leave as otherwise, this mentality just catches on and becomes a fad. Nobody should "care" about others if they don't want to. But it's the relations we share that builds our strong userbase. If the userbase goes off with the mentality, "Nobody cares, don't respect anyone", our community will just break down. Yes, our. I am saying our as it is ALL of our jobs to shape this community. Either for the good, or for the worse.
Argonath, personally, has been a place for me to develop my personal civil skills. Sure, some may not agree with them, but that's their opinion. We, as members of this community, should encourage ourselves, and others to at least have some respect for everyone, no matter their history, past, acts, communications skills, or alike. Not everyone is perfect. But if we treat each other with some respect, less conflicts are to arise.
It's not worth to screw around, all backed up by the lame excuse: "this is just the internet, get used to it'.

You aren't the only one who is trying. There are a certain few who truly believe in this community and seek to improve it in whatever way possible. One should not only be friendly, but at least try to encourage the friendship behavior to improve parts of the community. For example, say I create an idea that is okay but is not perfect, one should tell me how to improve it and their personal view besides the idea being "stupid", "retarded", "dumb", or likewise. See, with little changes as this, we can already create a more welcoming and beautiful image of Argonath. Sure, perfection is never to be reached, but we should all aim to reach that level.

@Altair: This topic isn't meant to show my problems with others.
Negative attitude of players against me
It was meant to in the first place.
-
No, not really Altair - that's the way you wanna put it on me. I used my situation to create an image, and maybe I gave the topic a wrong name. But don't we all make a little fault once in a time?
-
You bet.
So, to be on the current topic, it's the players nowadays and their attitude towards others. People mostly hang out with their friends only, and react negatively to others. Sad but true.
-
Could other trolls please continue here ? Kind of makes it easy to catch them in one place.
damn...
-

So why don't you make a change with it? Invite some new more people to be part of your friends. In the past few weeks, personally I made a lot of friends just by interacting with people.

You sound like it's i'm the one who's issuing about it. I'm just stating the fact.
-
You sound like it's i'm the one who's issuing about it. I'm just stating the fact.
It's not you. It's generally overall. But why not spark the idea to let others follow and do the same? Groups and associations such as NBA and i9 have shown this to be a good spark, but it's not enough.
-
As you may have seen, I have started activity in this topic by throwing out some trash, even if that may be seen as dictatorship by some of the more argumentative members.
Over time we have seen a deterioration of the quality of posts, and the main reason for it is that we as leaders do not have the opportunity to control all. Other forum moderators may act by judging towards their own background, and ths will always lead to differences in what is allowed and what is not.
The key argoment here are two sayings.
The first one: treat others like you want to be treated yourself.
Want respect ? Give it. Want to be treated like shit ? Treat others like shit.
The second one: answer for your words.
If you want to act tough and troll, do not go crying when you get punishment.
If you want to offend others, not dot push the report button if you get offended or worse.
The words dictatorship and censorship have been used. First of al Argonath has never been a democratic community, and I doubt it will ever become one. There are a small number of founders and leaders, and they are the ones who determine what is accepted.
As for censorship, we would like to challenge anyone to show a GTA community where there is more allowed as on Argonath. When we do act, it is because of legal obligation, or just because we feel someone misuses the freedom we give.
Freedom of speech is used as excuse by some people to do as they please, and try to confuse the adminsand moderators in to accepting. Those people should read the two sayings once more.
Freedom of speech does not dosallow us to set limits to what we accept, and actions we take whne anyone crosses those limits. Our limits are very open, and we might choose to tighten them when we feel that the posters here can not handle the freedom they have.
As for attitude to others, it is very simple. If you think that others will respect you by trolling, offending people and acting tough, you are mistaken. Those who will encourage and laugh with you are only some slimy friends, mostly those who are not having balls enough to do it them selves. People who do not know you will see you as a prick at the level of kindergarten, who act like a 5 year old to get attention.
On the other hand, if you show interest in others and respond without offending or hostile attitude, you may make a lot more friends, both here and in life. Even if someone starts acting tough to you, stay calm and answer friendly. Chances are they drop the facade and show them selves as people who may become friends.
So the next time you see a new player who tries to get your attention, greet him friendly. The world will be a better place if you drop the attitude, for you and for others.

Post here.
Wonderfully said and outlined.

That might of been harsh from my part, after reading Gandalf's post I do see that, he's prolly only trying to keep this community alive, And know that I do realize punishments must be used, but I also do not think Aksel was actually meaning to be a troll, he was merely stating that there are far way too much retards around Argonath..
Anyways, I still think a Major change must be done to this community. basicly, clear out the bad guys, I mean, by Argonath rules they can be retards all they want, as long as it does not come to flaming and anything, and In my opinion, that must change.
-
Changing rules? Something Argonath is quite unique on? Not 200 pages of rules... but just like 10 simple golden rules.
Cannot deal with it? Face a punishment ingame from one of the members of the admin team...

Is it against the rules to treat others in a harsh way, even if respecting all rules?
please don't sh itstorm... it's just a question

That is called "Internet balls" my friend.
Why such arrogance? You came here to have fun, play and spread horizons, I assume?
Those who treat others like shit have serious lower-worth frustration IRL. They cannot bare problems.
-
Still, So basicly, we who come to Argonath to basicly, have fun and relax, have now to deal with retards who think they got balls, but instead are shit persons IRL.
IMO no. I mean, if I wanted to deal with retards, I wouldn't log in, I would just like... go out on the street or something, So Yeah, imo there should be some kinda rule agaisnt trolling and being retards...
I'm not saying make 500 rules for everything, just 1 or two to fix some issues. That can't be asking much.
-
If everyone realises that acting immature (read: ACTING) and annoying others isn't good for anyone, we wouldn't even need new rules.
It's up to the people that provoke, insult and act stupid (sorry for my vocabulary..) to change and no rules about this won't be needed!
My hope relies on this proposal, however it'll probably get overlooked as usual. Perhaps some of these people WANT to provoke each other?
-
(read: ACTING)
Nobody knows the difference between being and acting.
-
Nobody knows the difference between being and acting.
There is a huge difference, acting will be directly noticed as annoying, since we are aware that the guy DOES know better.(ex. iMunna)
being immature is a complete other way of expressing yourself to the community.
-
There is a huge difference
Which nobody knows.
:/
-
Why such arrogance? You came here to have fun, play and spread horizons, I assume?
Like I said, it was just a question... There''s someone who you maybe don't like and don't treat them as they should.
You came here
Did I?
You came here to have fun, play and spread horizons, I assume?
I'm always having fun, regardless which game is it
-
Like I said, it was just a question... There''s someone who you maybe don't like and don't treat them as they should.
Again, it wasn't directed at you. I replied to your question.
Did I?
As astonishing as it seems, you did click the forum joining agreement button.
I'm always having fun, regardless which game is it
I'm glad you do, but we are talking about Argonath community and its members.
