Post by: MrFrancis on March 11, 2011, 11:07:26 am
Currently, it's going smooth, but very windy.. It's now 6:00 PM. I probably mistaken the time or what but I'm happy that the chances of the tsunami coming in the Philippines are going low. But it will come, for sure.

I haven't packed my things yet because I still have to study for tomorrow's exam, it's not that I'm nervous but I have a feeling that it will not reach my place. If it does reach, it will probably be 3-6 meters high.

I'm really concerned about the Japanese people.

Title: Re: Earthquake/Tsunami in Japan
Post by: Taylor_P on March 11, 2011, 09:34:45 pm
Well the Earthquake was the catalyst, from what Im hearing A few Nuclear Reactors are going down and 4 are not working and 1 is a poss able leak at the Fukushima Power Plant, also a Fire at a Petrol Refinery. I mean the USGS (United States Geological Service) has said there is now about a 150 Mile (270 Kilometer?) hole in the Fault that causes this Tsunami, that's almost as large as the Indian one in 2006.

Not to take off from the Japan but here in the US well it was some chaos at the beaches from what I asked my friends. Hawaii seemed to dodge a bullet, however most of the north shores got hit with some 7-8 foot waves, while that size is not totally rare the fact that it was on the entire side of islands was. Well there were more to my state, in California I was told from a friend the cops were arresting a few surfers who were obviously told "DO NOT GO IN THE WATER" or something like that. Also the US Coast Guard is looking for a boat that reported being capsized somewhere in the northern/mid section of California. Most of the damage on the North America side is minimal, I would easily say 80% of the damage on the North American cost is marina, dock and boat damage. No idea whats going on or what happened to the Canucks but I bet no one is hurt up there.

Back to Japan, it seems that the U.N. has deiced to not care about the Middle East and focus on humanitarian aid to Japan and there seems to be Huge amounts of aftershocks that are greater then 6.0 magnitude, This is hands down the most devastating natural disaster to Japan in its History.

Since this thing happen.. people now predict there will be a SuperDoom on March 19, 2011... Specifically that the moon will come nearer to Earth and many earthquakes followed by tsunamis will occur.

It's sad to hear that 200 people died.

Keep in mind Sept. 11 was not a natural disaster. It was  a planned terrorist attack which was believed to be on the date 9/11 as it's the phone thingy for the USA. (and other places)

You can write the date however you like.

Want to know something interesting? A youtube member predicted this event, literally the same day it happened. Obviously not on purpose (and not necessarily specific either)

It was a video about Charlie sheen... basically he was saying that these crazy media stories get more coverage than the real problems on earth, deadly events. Not much time afterwards, the 8.9 Earthquake in Japan occurs. I did some fast re-search and found the comment:

''All of a sudden, the topic of Mr. Sheen's idiosyncrasies has eclipsed every other news item in importance. That's quite an achievement. All across America, it would appear, the topic of Charlie Sheen is on everyone's lips; from pillow talk to water cooler conversation, one would be hard pressed to find an instance where Charlie Sheen is not in the forefont. If, say, a natural calamity were to befall mankind tomorrow, then I'm afraid that news story would be forced to play second fiddle.

necropolis71 1 day ago''

Note: like i said, not a specific prediction.. but he mentioned 'a natural calamity were to befall mankind tomorrow.'

Anyways, this was a real bad disaster, and it really, really would just leave an empty soul for one person to try to make a call to a loved one and never getting an answer... I hope for the best of those families affected.

September, 11th = World Trade Center Crash

January, 11th = Haiti Earthquake

March, 11th = Japan Earthquake

12/21/2012 -> 1 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 0 + 1 + 2 = 11

Anybody else notice this?

Speechless

Of course it was wrong  Next 2015 will be wrong, then 2018, and so on so on.
Just like 1998,1999,2000,2001,2004,2006,2008,2010

The future at this time does not matter, as the main issue is (how) to act now. Can't just sit there going "OMG we all gonna dieeeee" whilst saying "LOL" when just sitting at the PC with blank face, you know you'd never go to someone of high rep in "the real world" and say "World is ending 2012, what are you thoughts?" they'd probably punch you in the face and tell you to get outta there way.

But let's keep this discussion about what's going on now eh?

In response to the Nuclear disasters especially, governments around the world are being told and are reviewing there Nuclear stuff, even those without earth quakes as often as others - such as India.

Also of-course the Japanese does not like the idea of Nuclear energy at this moment.

Pressure is rising from Germans to have there government take a diff approach to there countries Nuclear stuff.

First: A 8.9M Earthquake rocks the country causing, some damage.

Secondly: The Earthquake shuts down the cooling system at the Fukushima power plant, causing 3 reactors to overheat. They then decide to fill it with seawater, which has killed the plant. There has been some radiation leak, but more is to come.

Thirdly: A huge Tsunami causes devastation across the country and sends alerts to most of the pacific.

Are you okay?  :trust:

Back to point: I think they need to start planning on entombing the facility immediately.. it's far too late to stop the meltdown. By the time they even consider about covering the plant the radiation will probably cover hundreds of miles in every direction, making Northeast Japan inhabitable..

Now guys do you know how radiation spreads? Or how it's intensity works. if source intensity is let's say 9000 paritcles per second. Then 3 meters away from source Geiger-Muller counter registers 1000 particles/s. Now Japan is roughly 9000km away from Europe. So the intensity of radiation that would get here is 81 000 000 (81 million) times smaller than that it is in the source! Meaning that it won't reach us in Europe because our own natural radiation we get everyday every second of our lives is even bigger than that would reach us here.

EDIT: sorry not 81 million times, my bad, it's 81 000 000 000 000 ( 81000 billion times). (At first I forgot to make kilometers to meters)

Yes that is a possibility. Though radioactive rain is not really that dangerous.  That is also the way that the radioation can cover great distances (as clouds) but as said one cloud can't carry a lot of it ( it would rain down if it gets heavy)

Guys, that's radioactive fallout, not the radiation from a nuclear meltdown. You would need a pretty large-scale nuclear disaster to happen at once for it to cause such a fallout across the planet, which at that point, you might as well consider nuclear winter, which is the end of mankind as we know it.

I am sorry for those in Japan and also for my words of 'shut the hell up' - but I stand for what else I said. I'm just gonna leave now before I embarass myself more, but maybe you could bother to look at those who are telling people to stop 'trolling' more than mourning the events which this topic was crated for.

+ Coolness granted, grats. I'm sure people who are unbiased enough did understand what I meant there, receiving such reactions from stubborns like you did not surprise me at all. Have a nice day without any tsunamis.

People give different kinds of comments about it (it may not always be a positive one).Unless we aren't being directly harmed, and unless we remain with our own thoughts, we should just live with it.

Our school and especially our year 9 will start a fund-raiser.We will do our best.

Remember to do something good

It seems like a good percentage of America either wants to be Japanese, watches anime or reads manga, embraces Japanese culture, loves Japanese video games, etc etc, but when this shit happens, it's like, y'know, oh shit we just remembered Pearl Harbor. Fuck the Japs unless they're making the PS4.

But yeah, poor Japan.

The disaster has been given the same classification as Tsjernobyl, this is nothing to laugh about.
