A couple of months ago I posted that I got my hands on Windows 8, but then immediatly downgraded back to Windows 7.

However, now when I got my hands on the actual Windows 8.1, I'm already using it for like good three weeks and I'm loving it so far. There are the reasons why you should upgrade to Windows 8:

*Windows 8 is a lot faster than Windows 7, it eats a lot less RAM and other resources.
*Even though you might think it's an absurd, the new Windows 8 interface is actually a lot more comfortable for me. Skype and Facebook now come as intergrated and very cool apps. IF you don't like the whole apps concept, you can just remove them from the Metro UI and replace them by your games, Chrome shortcuts and so on.
*If you don't like Metro UI, you can download various tools to bring the old start menu back. Then it would be exactly as same as Windows 7, only faster..
*Everything that worked on Windows 7 will work on Windows 8, so you don't need to worry about compatibility. (Unless the program is completely DOS based, then just use DosBox)
*Everything is faster, smoother. Remember these times in Windows 7 , when you would load a program and you could hear your computer doing the best it can to open it? (The hard disk clicking like crazy?). Well, that doesn't happen on Windows 8 anymore, everything launches instantly.
*And best of all - Windows 8 supports all Windows 7 drivers, and you can upgrade to Windows 8 without loosing anything from your PC.
*Internet Explorer stereotype no longer works - Internet Explorer is now almost instant , while Chrome takes a while to catch up with it, especially if you use the app.

Noty, W7 will still be the best out there for me. From all my friends who tried Windows 8(experienced users), all stated they had drivers issues, also a lot of incompatibility issues running programs or games.

Windows 8.1 really worked on fixing all of those driver issues that people were experiencing. Every game I have on steam works, as well as GTA. I'd give it a shot, it's really good now.

Why not just get windows xp, install windows 7 skin and enjoy life as you now have windows 7 that is actually faster?

I'm not convinced that Windows 8 is any better. Skype is not hard to install, and why the hell would I want a facebook app? I don't even use the damn thing.

The hell is Metro UI anyway? EDIT: Just saw it. It looks pretty ugly to me, plus it's unnecessary. Luckily, you can get rid of it as seen here >>>http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/3490242/how-get-rid-of-modern-ui-from-windows-81/

That's not the Windows 7 issue, that's the issue of using a prehistoric computer.

Windows 8 supports all Windows 7 drivers, and you can upgrade to Windows 8 without loosing anything from your PC.

That's not an improvement, as Windows 7 came with a package of most commonly used drivers. You'd still have to manually install drivers for things like wi-fi adapters and certain (mainly older) cards.

Internet Explorer stereotype no longer works - Internet Explorer is now almost instant , while Chrome takes a while to catch up with it, especially if you use the app.

I don't think there's a man that uses Internet Explorer and is actually considered sane.

On top of that; A nice joke:

Wasn't it said that next windows will be named 'Blue' or something? I don't know about W8.1, I might give it a dual-boot shot later this week, and maybe I'll keep it, other than that as picture states IE will always be the last browser to choose. At least anyone with basic experience of using a computer knows that it's not as good as Chrome/Firefox/Opera.

Definitely not all. The only reason, why I can not update to Windows 8.1, is that there is no known solution to make Android/SE fastboot drivers work. They work on Windows 8, but according to current info, that method does not work on 8.1 and no other solution has been found yet.

Prehistoric? My PC has no problem running GTA IV, BF3, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3 on ultra. Tell me about it.

Bullshit, after a full windows reinstall you have to install everything manually, as most of these drivers would be downloaded via updates, however, you have to install the network driver first.

Dude, Windows 8's internet explorer works better than chrome!

And these who are worried about Metro UI:

XP > All other versions

An excuse of a poor man. Forget XP, it's dead, it's old, it's no longer any good. It isnt supported by microsoft anymore, connect to internet - get two hundred viruses. Yes, it was good in GTA SA Era, but now, when all new games are released on newer Windows, XP is useless. Don't say that other versions are shit just because your wooden PC can't handle them.

XP was known to be fastest OS before Windows 8. Can it still be called that?

Yes it can, as it takes me literally 2 minutes to install it.

1. Clicking and CPU overworking is NOT a Windows issue. Hard Disks click when they have mechanical problems, software can't make it "click like crazy" just because Windows felt like it. If you have a gorrilion of things running at the same time, no wonder why nothing is going smooth anymore.

2. You can't read. You also have never seen it happen. Commonly used cards and devices have their drivers bundled in with Windows 7, and if that is not the case, Windows 7 easily finds them on the internet from it's database. GPU's and motherboards come with drivers bundled so you WOULDN'T HAVE to use Windows's driver package and get the maximum efficiency from the manufacturer.

3. If you manage to get two hundred viruses on any computer, you shouldn't talk about which Windows is better. Most older PC's can easily handle newer Windows versions, however newers versions require more resources just to keep themselves stable and operational. Do not think that Windows 8 is faster just because you have a better PC, it is not Windows or any other OS that determines how "fast" the computer is.

Many people that I've met so far have only one thing to say about Windows 8 - It crashes their computers DAILY because of bugs, driver failures and various software mismatches. You have yet to convince any sane person.
Flimflam harder.

You're obviously having no idea what you're speaking of. OS means contributes A LOT to the computers speed. If not, why Vista was so crappy and slow until it was updated? That's because it ate a lot of resources. Windows 8 manages to be basically same as Windows 7 but eat a lot less resources, it also boots up a lot faster which is an advantage, program loading, working, internet browsing is just faster in Windows 8. I compared both windows on the same pc and windows 8 has way better results.

Windows 7 supports fast boot aswell, depending on what kind of BIOS you have.
Internet browsing does not fully depend on the computer. Why does Internet Explorer keep crashing with 8GB's of RAM? Because it sucks and Microsoft knows it.
Windows 8 might have better resource allocation, but you seem to never mention the fact that it's a pain in the ass to actually install the piece of shit and keep it from crashing every two hours.

And what does Vista got to do with all this? We're talking about Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Flimflam harder.

I'm actually happy about Microsoft ruining their own brand, the more they fuck up, the better.
There's not a single worker within the IT industry that could honestly place their hand on the heart and say that working in windows is effective.
Easy maybe, effective? No.

"Remember these times in Windows 7 , when you would load a program and you could hear your computer doing the best it can to open it? (The hard disk clicking like crazy?)."

You lost it completely here, all and any credibility you had dissipated here.
If you are not educated in IT (Or technology) in general, I could look past it. But if you are, shame on you. Have you even opened up a HDD before?

What was windows 7 installed on? SDD or HDD?
What was windows 8.1 installed on? SDD or HDD?

Do you know what SDD and HDD stands for?
Solid State Drive.
Hard Disk Drive.

SDD's has no moving parts whatsoever, NONE. It's a flash drive, not unlike what you encounter with a USB Thumb Drive, just far more advanced.

Usually, you install programs on your C: drive (You can install them on another drive if you want to).
More often than not, certain things from those programs will still be located on your C: drive.

If your C: drive is a HDD, and this HDD is exhibiting clicking noises, it is foreshadowing an inevitable HDD failure (and how long this takes to come true is near impossible to guess, just listen to the sound). (In some cases, it can be fixed. However, the troubles of repairing and fixing it is not worth it unless you have some serious experience with hardware. And even then, it's both cheaper and easier to just replace it).
It has absolutely nothing to do with the software.

If the clicking noise suddenly disappears, good for you. But did you consider the fact that Windows 8.1 might have been installed onto your SDD if you have one?
This would explain that the clicking noise got reduced, since you are now putting far less load on the HDD.
Did you look this up?

You need to consider such things before you make such a bold claim.

This is a concise and effective demonstration of a HDD failure.
If you ever encounter this amount of clicking, there's no hope. Get a new HDD.
(And as a last note, sometimes the problem goes away by itself, but it should not be taken lightly)

Life has been a fucking hell recently, including accepting what has happened to me in the past. Dunno if life will ever get better but at the least I'm still hanging on. Lol.
