Hey. Just had my first and second time in game, going through a little bit of what RS5 has to offer and I have to say: GOOD WORK.
The only thing that got me a bit meh is the spawning location at RANDOM hospital. Should be closest hospital. Also a bit sad over the removal of /em.

But hey, I just wanted to give you guys a big applaud. Good work. Loving the feeling and loving the possibilities and development levels with this new game mode.

I remember you saying last night you thought the new script was good. I wonder why /em isn't here any longer probably something to do with people using it for other things.

As I've said myself before the possibilities are endless what we are seeing now is just the base the foundations of the future.

This is the damn well overhyped RS5, it's not the second coming of Christ himself that everyone was waiting it to be.

We need to put aside the egos of both the leadership/management/players too because ultimately we have one objective, which is to ensure the prosperity of our community.

thats what 3 years of expectations do to you

I'm sure the main benefit of the new script is stability instead of new and revolutionary features

At first, I did not like it at all, it felt so complex. But now when I played it a littlem it actually is AWESOME. All the new features and the new support for groups is EPIC. A huge thank you to all the scripters and the people involved in creating RS5  :app: RS5 Of course still has some features which have to be tweaked or change but they will come by time, because after all, all new published things have bugs.
I think we will all get used to RS5, it is just a matter of time.

"Dialog boxes. Dialog boxes everywhere."

Technologically speaking, RS5 is superior for something made from scratch (with a combined rough estimate of ~200,000 lines) in the aspect that its database will not need a major overhaul for an estimated 5-10 years. That is quite the accomplishment considering how fast technology and scripting methods can become obsolete.

To be fair to the developers, they had to speed up the release of the script after losing 4 months of data. (something which, as a programmer, would make me shit myself if that happened to any of my major projects) So it would be safe to say the script is far from its full potential.

Best thing to do? Enjoy what we have while the devs are working on adding the rest. It shouldn't take too long. (considering we waited 3 years for this script)

I've been on the RS5 dev team for over a year now and there are still features and parts of RS5 that I entirely do not know. The joy of the game is learning and experiencing what is new. So many people were, and still are quick to dismiss RS5 based on the 1% they know without the willingness to indulge in the gameplay and experience. The best thing you can do is just give it a shot as Que did. You might find out you really like it as others have.

The removal of /em upset me too, it was a very good tool (at least for me). The only valid explanation to the 'RANDOM' hospital is so that players can not return to combat or role-play in general quickly.

The only problem I am facing with RS5 is the dialog boxes, some useful scripts removed and scripters over-complicating shit (like the bank system). If it were not for these 3 'flaws', I would give RS5 a solid 8/10.

In my opinion, RS5 is sitting comfortably in the 5/10 zone.

However, what's done is done. I'm looking forward to see the progress of RS5 in a few months time.

I would categorize /em more as icing on the cake (a tool that makes life more comfortable, but also that you could do very much without) than a necessity.

I would agree with the dialog boxes. Dialog boxes are useful for simplifying things and making them more efficient when it comes to features of moderate to high complexity. Using them for even the simplest tasks though, just stretches out the time it takes to perform them and makes it less "user-friendly".

A good analogy I would like to use for dialog boxes (in tasks simple enough that they do not really need dialog boxes) would be Blackberry's OS 10. The hardware (in this case, the gamemode) is impressive, but the OS is not very user-friendly, which can hurt the end user's experience.

I do hope that these flaws will be addressed soon so that the script can soon reach a much higher level of playability and enjoyability.

The dialog-free economy scripts had over 60 commands. That would screw user experience in half. Dialogs are the lesser of two evils in this case.

Would it not be possible / practical to reach a slightly more practical solution, such as retaining the dialog boxes, but allowing command-form for the most basic tasks? (i.e. /send)

Another question I thought on, what about when you use the ATM and somebody shoots you while the dialog box occupies your screen? (regardless of the reason why you are being shot at, rulebreak or not)

In other words JDC, Dialog are good but have been used excessively in RS5. And yes, Dialog should not be used for simple tasks.

The only pro from my horizon in terms of Dialog is that drains the laziness out of the players (actually going to the bank)

In addition, I pictured many scenarios which may get ugly because of the Dialogs. What if I were shot by someone? What if I was on the run and needed emergency money? The Dialog slows the process down.
