RS5 update - Weapons

I'm soon gonna add a update on the server which is updating the weapon system and how it's given to you.

I added a fix on the server which would avoid players to loose weapons when the server is crashing. From the tests i had done, it looked like it was working perfectly but now, i know that wasn't the case.

To take an example, lets say i used /weaponequip on myself and got a deagle. If i didn't have a deagle, it would update perfectly fine. But from there on, every time i would get deagle after that, the server wouldn't update my weapon data properly and then mark me as a weapon hacker.

This caused alot of false positives for the staff and took alot of time from them in regard of investigations.

I have now spent an hour or so debugging it and found the problem and fixed it. However, this means that weapons will not auto save anymore directly when you get it.

However, i added a new command called /saveweapons which everyone can use. If you are scared to loose your weapons every time you buy some, you can use /saveweapons and it will automatically save it to the database.

EDIT: This update has now been deployed.

Why do firemen need weapon equip? O.o

So they don't have to reduty for extinguisher.


JDC, from my testing:
firemen are only able to /weaponequip extinguisher (at the FD, in the far right room to the left of the entrance, and possibly at FD ranchers, not sure if that was completely removed or adjusted)
SAPD can't equip heavy weapons
You can't equip melee weapons
Seems only shotgun, combat, m4, smg, deagle, pepper, sniper are available for equipping, combat, sniper and m4 being restricted to FBI and SWAT.

Regulations are probably the same, as scripts don't really change them.


We need to put aside the egos of both the leadership/management/players too because ultimately we have one objective, which is to ensure the prosperity of our community.

That's entirely up to SAPD to regulate. The only scripted limit we have put in is that you can not carry more than 10k bullets at any given time (no matter if you are on police duty or not) since a higher number than that can make the database bug due to a SA:MP bug.

Oh I see, it is a pain going into that marker and then finding out you have to relog because the marker won't let you back on fire duty, if thats a bug you're not aware of..

Or finding out you have to get off the marker, wait a few seconds and go back to the marker, or failing that, exit and enter the building.

This makes me think, why not add /rearm for the firemen like the cops have it?

Usually. But with a new gamemode and a modified system of ranks, ingame regulations may require some revision in some cases. After all, Argonath agencies have always built their regulations around the gamemode, not the other way around. (with the exception of scripted ranks and their permissions)

SAPD (FBI, SWAT, any group within the group system) have the power to
1) Create whatever ranks they want
2) Have whatever stuff available they want (within the scripted limit) for whichever rank they want
3) Have none of the above make any sense whatsoever

So if [WS]Mike wanted to, SAPD Officers would have the same abilities he does, while Lieutenants couldn't even suspect anyone.

So yeah, that's the big change, agencies are in full control of everything, without having to wait for developers to script it for them.



Edit: Shit, saw the last bit in the quote. Do you mean regulations about who should have the rights to stuff? Ie, not giving everyone the ability to call hydras?

I imagine it's assumed that people who've managed to get to ranks where they can edit permissions won't be completely stupid :p


Edit2: Whatever bug that causes your last location to get erased, as well as sets your hp at 10, it wipes your weapons still. Also, probably inventory.

Couldn't their be a loop hole in the new system /saveweapons, for example I save them then I go off shooting up the block, then I log off and come back again, wouldn't you spawn with the amount you started with before hand, or another possibility giving your weapons to other players after using /saveweapons then log off, and get them back when you log back on? Or does it auto-save when you use / give the weapons?
