Ah interesting service.

As I said, hopefully a good thing. Keep in mind a more packed server doesn't mean a better quality server. What good is a server if filled with less quality players? I'd rather have few good RPing players than many asshats tbh. But... only time will tell and hopefully things are for the better.

That's an excellent concept but these "less quality players" players have proven to be useful - they help display the server higher on the list of all SA:MP servers which in turn attracts quality players to bring their talents to Argonath.

I'm curious how your data sampling was conducted and what which consistent intervals. Anyhow hopefully this is a positive thing..
This came into my head as-well.

Not to be the negative Monte but ...

Players either saw a game mode not good enough to play on or they was not happy about their money, it was always expected that a few would leave due to money.

But when it came down to it, a lot more players moved on because of the constant lack of the server being online and the fact all the data was lost (some didn't care about money, just that they didn't have the cool features that they used to) , and the fact a unfinished script was released instead leaving little to people who just wanted to play a game.

I remember a lot of whipper snappers who went on constantly at the start of RS5 with "So this is rS5?" to which the response they got was "Don't like it? leave." Whilst the response of only a few were "Yea everything got lost dude so they brought this up and it wasn't finnished anyway so lets just wait :) "

Like I've said before, player retention needs to be focused on or else it'll be one step forward two step backs.

If there is no active person (you'd expect Gandalf to fulfill that position) who will be able to enable the fix for issues to take effect, then the server will lose. If the server goes down in the next week for what ever reason beyond 1 minute, we will probably see the figure drop back down to 30 players as players will just lose confidence in the server being a viable source of entertainment .

It's also winter time in Europe and people probably just don't like going outside anymore x)

When I think about it I've seen many samp communities get higher player counts, for a few years now, at this time of the year. During Halloween I saw a 100 per cent rise in one, but yea it's not about the others.

Samp in general however has reportedly seen some higher user count.

I don't  see why there is no mention of [EES]DamienT who leads his clan and the CoastGurd on the side and through him there has been player retention, and newer members to the community.

PLAYER RETENTION <

Once again, if Gandalf remains inactive and this stops the efforts of Chase for example who are scripting away and trying to fix bugs (and probably other script writers) then this is a bit of a false hope and could be seen as a big bubble effect.

Then and again, the 50 odd players online currently look like regulars, so a few of them may be on because it's that time of year again. Who's to say January the 5th we'll see any more then 50.

Hats and berets and such things which bought people on who stayed should be reintroduced soon in time for Christmas if it's possible.

Ah interesting service.

I kind of kek'd when players would sell the 'asshats' a gram of weed for $1k, then I'd  take them to the PD and make them go on police duty as community service under my command xD.

loooooooooooooooooooool

that's not even funny mate.

Well, I did say they'd all be back for Christmas..
and because the sun is on vacation!

Its like everything, during the summer we would have a higher player count, by logic and then on the week days you would have expected the players to be at school and such, but I have noticed on the week days the player cound has gone up, we have lately had a 50-60 player count on a weekday which is pretty average if you ask me, weekends have been great also last weekend and such hitting 70-80 was great, although it isnt the same as RS4 with the player count we are still growing, there is bugs and stuff and features that aint been added its asif we are in beta/first-days of release some of the good scripts such as the Business income and some others haven't been added but even though we don't have this we do have a good player count, I sincerely cannot wait we get the full potential of what is RS5. THEN we will get really back on the map, but currently we are working up the ladder, I have seen alot of old players coming back what is good also. Anyways, long live Argonath RPG!

Actually when it reached 80 players, almost no one was afk.

I see a connection between the increased gang activities going lately and the slightly raised amount of players. Script wise, we have not developed much since the trucker script was introduced though.

I think that's wrong. The summer is when people go out, not stay in doors.
The winter is where folks begin to stay in doors.

But how players are kept or enticed into the server is another thing.

Back when there was 100's of players on average we had the 3 day halloween event, the Christmas events too.

And ofc I'm not just talking about the lame DD's, surf events, but rather the scripted events.

For those who do not know, for Halloween we used to have an event which went on for at-least two consecutive years in which there was bots as zombies which would attack you, but you had to get to a grave yard and find special items and then you win some money I think.
People expected it the next year, and then nothing came. People be like "but where the Christmas spirit gone?" Especially when nothing happens on Christmas, no sort of event. Honestly, if I wanted to do a DD or a air stunt, I'd go on a stunt server not on an RPG. RPG's also are not just "RP IT". RPG's have the scripts made in advance, of which players follow or use to have fun.

MMORPG include runescape as an example. The only difference from Argonath RPG and runescape is the fact Argonath is a bit smaller, but they are both RPG's and I think people just do not understand what an RPG is.

The average's only bout 30, so what happens, for an hour or two a day it's 60-80, and then 5-20 the rest of the day?

We need to put aside the egos of both the leadership/management/players too because ultimately we have one objective, which is to ensure the prosperity of our community.
