Really simple, chats like joined/disconnected/killed/etc, basically all chats except public/local/advertisement, should be able to turn on/off with a command.

VC:MP server's chat has never been "too fast" and unless we cap the current server limit I see no reason to start disabling chats. This might change if the playerbase increases and chat comes harder to read, for now it's still easy.

Use this to modify your chat to your liking :)

Obviously you haven't been online when we had 31 players lately, the chat was unreadable most of time

The currently used messages for connection/disconnections are inbuilt into VC:MP, they can not be toggled for individual players. However, we can remove and replace them with our custom messages, that will include the country the player is connecting from. This is a work in progress and will be implemented in future.

Similarly, the death messages server user right now are classic DM inbuilt messages. They will be replaced by custom news style death messages, which will cover a lot of chat space. I'll definitely add some kind of toggles in there along with a check that makes sure cops and civilians receive different messages.



I personally use the console(Default: TAB Key) when I need to type/read a lot. It improves readability and you don't need to press 'T' after every message.

To expand Kessu's post, you can personalize your VCMPBrowser to make things easier:
Edit the file: C:\Users\<youruser>\AppData\Roaming\VCMP\04beta\vcmp_config.txt

con_fontname
The name of the font used in the chat console.

Allowed Values
Text: the name of any font installed on your Windows machine.


con_typeloc
Determines the location of the typing area in the console.

Allowed Values
0: Places the typing area on the bottom of the console, the style used in 0.3z R2 and earlier.
1: Places the typing area on top of the screen, the style used in the first public beta.


con_fontgap
Alters the size of the gap between letters in the chat console. Larger values increase the size of the font gap. Setting this to zero uses normal font gap size.

Allowed Values
Any number that is at least 0.


con_fontscale
The relative size of the font as a multiplier. Larger values increase the size of the font. Setting this value to 1 uses the normal font size.

Allowed Values
Decimal values that are at least 0:

Acceptable: 0.005
Acceptable: 1.500
Not Acceptable: -5.000
Not Acceptable: 12pt


con_numoflines
The maximum number of lines that appear when the console is expanded. The larger this value is, the more space the console takes up when expanded.

Allowed Values
Any whole number (at least 0)

Note
Setting this value to 0 hides the console entirely.


con_disappear
The amount of time, in seconds, it takes for each message in the console to disappear.

Allowed Values
Any whole number (at least 0)

honestly you really gonna pull the excuse of not having a high player count often enough to implement a very simple feature? that card can be used with anything, I can say, let's remove all the expensive properties because how often does someone earn half a million? eventually someone will, this is why it's better than to take a precaution. In 0.3z the chat was often unreadable even with 15 players (so I don't see it as proper example), but now that we can fix this issue we should, why should I care about deaths that happened 10000 miles away from my position or random players disconnecting.

How often do we reach 31 players?
When ever I join with my boys. I'm a pop star I know.  :D

The suggestion isn't to REMOVE this chats, yet to place a command that players can choose will they deactivate those chats or not. So I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it.

@aXXo

1.If you can replace them with something custom, can't you remove them as well?
 
2. "Guest15 joined" " Guest15 changed name to John_Newman joined the server"(I'm paraphrasing, don't remember  exactly the sentences), can we remove the first sentence, since its kinda useless and just make it "John_Newman joined the server"?

3. In that editing guide you provided, can we change the color of fonts as well?  Or a specific chat?
