I don't agree with that, there are many POV'S which are kinda right but not a reason to ban, for example, DM. i've seen players getting warn, kick TB and ban for DM, 1 reason and 4 different punishments. It's all up to the admin who handles ur case.

Then don't agree with it.  Just don't sit there and think we're going to change them to suit you.

Now that we're done discussing something completely unrelated to the thread you can get back on track, OP never posted it to talk about how long someone gets banned for.

REPLICA.

I do understand that people have other dutys to attend to, my question was how the server could "die" over a night? As I said, we went from 40+ one day and the other day we don't even reach 20+ on peaktimes

@Emmett There could be various matters, what if a old community member created another (in their eyes a "way better") community and they recruit people from argonath? I don't know, and i don't say it's happening, but what if?

Also on the administrative point, i know i am not the best admin, and i know i make mistakes, i try, i fail, i reconsider and i approach it differently, i am busy, yes, but still in these times i hop on the server
And enjoy every little bit of roleplay there is, also the administrative side when there is no roleplay at the moment, so far i do not know of any reports, but don't hesitate to send me a personal message if you think i have punished you wrongly, we are all humans? Arent we?

Also, try to be motivated, try to have fun instead of killing rp or playercounts because scripts, because this, because that, we are a community, change appears when a single person changes his mind and works out something positive while having patience on the negative, with a negative mindstate what happends? Exactly this what happend now, and instead of complaining here, why don't you hop on the server? Try to roleplay on your own, don't give up after 10 minutes but wait for/or approach someone else with positivity.

I think we need some kind of GTA MMORPG with good graphics, let's say if it was GTA V.

Should be possible in the coming months. MP mods are still being developed for GTA V I believe.

We're 31 on forums right now, yet only 15 in-game.
Not everyone gives a shit about SAMP, simple.

To be honest, I'm still in vacation and I barely go IG since the beginning of this week, go IG then what? Go AFK? It's hard to find someone to role-play with other than chatting on CB or public chat with other friends who are semi afk.. Something is missing, like motivation or something, we lost it in a matter of one night..
same here

This is how we used to treat banned players, everyone said sorry and they all got unbanned, but what happened? Nothing, they got unbanned and continued where they left. Sure some people are actually sorry and won't repeat it, but 90 per cent of the people just continue doing what they used to do. I actually like the longer bans, it learns the people that not everything is acceptable, and sometimes I still find some of the ban reviews to be a bit short. But then again, we all have different views. I rather have people actually think about what they've done, and learn from it, and not repeat it in the future. Than 2-3 people in the server that rule-break and ruin the experience for others. I'd rather see a guy banned for a month or two, and learn something, than people leave/ get annoyed/ start flaming because that guy DMs him/ her again, and then they both get punished, and we lose even more people.
If you think people are learning something from their mistakes you are completely wrong. It's kinda addictive to play here, but ye, when they lose their motivation they start to think "it's just a game, i have nothing to lose"...longer bans are annoying me aswell... there are people who REALLY CONTRIBUTE to this server, people who really care and they are banned for centuries, and there are people who are annoying as f***, who can't even speak english or every their word is an insult and continue playing here...
I also lost my motivation here because the old good roleplayers are gone and there are new who don't even want to learn something and just annoy you.
People who contribute to this server should have advantage in the unban section.

The problem is not people leaving the server, that happens, people get bored get stressed, grow up and get jobs, the list could go on...

The problem is that no one is coming in, and if they are, they are not staying for long.

I left for a good 2 years at the start of 2012 not because Argonath was crap or anything, simply because I turned 18 and was hitting it way too hard to have enough time let alone brains to play a game. I guess it is probably the same for most, we were all kids when we started and people are now a bit older and focusing more on advancing in real life. While some of us including myself came back, others continue to not have enough time or just simply being over video games. It's sad but it's true, also the kids that used to fill SAMP servers are now playing games like minecraft or way more advanced games, no new aged kid wants to play GTA SA. They will pick GTA V everytime.

Which is why I'm so happy that change is happening to the server because, we aren't in the space of time anymore where we can just RP and use /me for everything, it was fun. But games and technology advanced and I'm happy that Argonath is finally changing it up and thinking way outside of the box so it'll become a real RPG game rather than GTA SA with a chat basically. I personally think with the new scripts being put in, we will start filling up again and change the game for the better.

Also, directed at administration. Please be a bit more lenient on the new players, even if they're 4 months old they might not have had adequate time on SAMP and just need to be taught. I hate seeing admins who just handle the report with commands ajail and ban etc as that makes the player feel like he's being stood over basically without any talking to, it's an old issue but I still see it happening. For example, a friend of mine I invited to play with me so I could teach him the Argonath ways recently, he was online without me one day as I was coaching him in his learning stages, he accidentally carkilled someone who walked into the road and, teleported to admin jail, no warnings, stripped of police officer duties. Rather than teleporting him to admin jail and teaching him some rules and hearing his side of the story. As a result of this, my friend took it as provocation that he took his badge away and said in the mainchat "go fuck yourself" and there you go, banned. My point is, the whole situation could have been solved so much easier and we would have another member probably by now, fully into Argonath.
Also, now that he decided he'll put aside his pride and place an unban request apologizing deeply for his actions it hasn't even been looked at or anything and his ban was 5 months ago. Not moaning about it, just using it as an example and exposing some holes.

I'm trying to build this server up again ingame with the help of everyone and anyone. When online, DO NOT hesitate to come and roleplay with me or The Highway Runners. We can bring Argonath back to it's former glory together. In game and Out of game.

I tell you it's happening, but that's not the reason players are not playing in our server anymore.

Mr Cofiliano how can you deny that we had any relation or intercourse, while you are prosecuting me?

Skyhawk's post sums up my situation. Ever since I stood down, I have not been able to get enough time for games. I would personally love to get back in the game, get Corleone back in game and maybe help others (by also becoming an admin).

What is also minor but gradually affecting SA:MP (besides no interest and as others say, no new scripts and support) is that the veterans are getting old and GTA SA being an old game is not gaining new young players like it used to 5-6 years ago. Argonath being one of the relatively smaller but popular SA:MP community is affected the most. Lack of script and support all adds up to that.

What I think would help the community and SA:MP is newer games. Former SA:MP players still have a copy of GTA SA with them. Newer games (such as GTA V) would attract new community members and they would definitely try out an older SA:MP server of the same community. GTA IV failed miserably at it.

as for me, i feel samp is outdated and im bored of it. been waiting for more game servers to be added to the community, but never happened. im not much active as i have been playing other online games mostly arma 3, also busy at college during day.

only gta 5/gta mp can bring a change.

GTA IV failed miserably at it.

i wouldnt say that, im an ivmp player and later became an samp player, including some of my friends too. if there was no ivmp, i would have never knew what argonath is

My opinion:

- Server was popular at the height of RS4 (100+)
- Management wanted to upgrade to RS5 (since last RS4 backup was 3 months ago and code was not maintainable)
- Players voted on the forum in favour of keeping RS4 and rolling back changes 3 months prior
- Management refused to acknowledge players overwhelming request to keep RS4
- Management pressed ahead with RS5 upgrade despite scripts not being complete
- Management decision came at a time of SA:MP popularity decline
- A large player base left the server
- RS5 did not incorporate the same feel as RS1, RS2, RS3 or RS4.
- Scripts/functionality were too advanced for the demographics of available players
- Economy has stalled continously with management refusing to sponsor key groups by imposing unrealistic pre-exquisites
- Development staff changed bringing a new vision for direction further deterring us from our heritage
- IC/OOC rise and invasion led to the server being split into 2 sides
- Large portion of IC/OOC promotors left taking many with them
- Remaining player base remains (often long term veterans who are getting older with other responsiblities)
- SA:MP decline accelerates (would you play Tetris if you could play GTA V?)

We've killed our server with our own hands.

It will never be the same again.

RS5 was the wrong decision, at the wrong time at the wrong place.

Though much is taken, much abides; and though we are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

RS5 had a period with 80-100 players.
It's not because you don't like RS5 that it's a failure.

But we don't go once again in a RS4 vs RS5 arguement.
Now we are on RS5 and we should focus on what can we implemented or improved.
