Dear citizens and officers alike,
We'd like to let you know that behind the scenes, we are still working to make the VCPD better, pursuing efficiency of operations and optimization of the department.
After some debate with the Server Management, some core changes have been made to the Vice City Police Department, and with how the Police in the state of Vice City will operate in general.
First of all, the Vice City Police Department is splitting from the Argonath RPG Police Department's (ARPD) structure. This is more of a symbolic move with not much significance, as the Argonath RPG Police Department as a united, community-wide police organisation has ceased to exist a while ago due to the general inactivity of the ARPD community wide. Every still active police department branch of Argonath RPG has been acting in isolation, mostly ignoring the ARPD's structure. We've found that the existence of both in the server causes confusion among new players, as well as creates convolution.
With that being said, the term "ARPD" or "ARPD Officer" ceases to exist in the state, with the only, and sole police force in the State of Vice City being Vice City Police Department.
How does that affect you, as a player, and/or former ARPD Officer (freecop)?
Not much. ARPD Officers/Freecops will now simply become VCPD Officers, with the rank VCPD Officer no longer being a career rank of the Vice City Police Department.
Every player on police duty will now be considered Officer. This rank will no longer be bound by the VCPD Regulations and Procedures, unless you yourself willingly do so in order to pursue a career-path in the police department.
This works in synergy with the changes in recruitment and officer training - any Officer is now able to seek out a ranked member of the VCPD in order to express their interest in the VCPD, and conducting an interview. Once expressed interest, and if deemed to meet the most basic needs, they become subject to VCPD Procedures and under-go an on the field training and evaluation of indefinite period. Once/if deemed suitable and ready for a career officer path in the VCPD, said Officer becomes Senior Officer of the Vice City Police Department.
With said changes come some core changes to the structure of the Vice City Police Department:
- the rank Cadet is retired
- every current Senior Officer is now promoted to Sergeant
- every current Officer is now promoted to Senior Officer
We strive to become a more visible and open part of the community, and in turn improve the policing of the State of Vice City.
FBI will not be affected by any of the changes and will continue to operate as usual under their own structure.
Yours,
Chief of Police
Gabriel Adams
