I did donate money to new players, and most of them left argonath.  Such a waste

this has got me thinking, instead of just donating, I could possibly set up a race round dirt tracks with either any car at all, or ask an admin to maybe spawn dune buggys.

What I am trying to say is, host a fun event rather than just giving it away, it's worth it.

I was not saying omgimamoneyhungrybitchdontdonatemoneyna o.

I was saying, do events, not just giving it away; giving has no interest other than their response. Events, are more fun for more people

Role play jobs to new players.<--That's the key, not DDs and other nonsense. Call me old fashion, but since the goal is to help new players, the amount of money you spend on one event, can give a role play job to 5-6 people, and help them develop their role play. Not to mention the realistic approach of it.

Now that is a more realistic and usefull method of giving money to new players, since you will also teach them the basics and what they need to know aswell as giving them some money for thier own spending.

When you simply give a new player money they will start looking for others for money by begging, when you have events for new players, that is basically teaching them that the way to earn is joining events.

The True method to earning is RP and working, like being a Taxi driver or a Cop, and by teaching them how to do those jobs you can increase the level of RP within the server and thus raising the respect level between old players and new players because the new players will understand how it works and the rules instead of causing any issues because they did not know. Also by showing them how to RP from the start they will quickly learn how it all goes and may even become successfull in a short time because they were focussed on what they need to do from the start.

If there was a stable source of income on the pedestrian/criminal side, then I would feel comfortable with spending and budgeting.

Some remarks I have:

- 70% of my donated money ends up in bought weapons
- And what Cofiliano says. You have a saying: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life". So giving him 10k and he will probably end up with my 70% of weapon buyers. Learn him to RP on the other hand!
- I also think paydays and lotto's should be reduced. I know I made good money with it (which is already gone), but it's makes people beg for even more

And here we go! :D Already have discovered few good ways to do this. And by the way I never ment to do this only with one or couple ways. This giving jobs to new players is very good way too. Thought there is nothing wrong to do events too.

Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Give a fish a man, and he'll eat for weeks!

Seriously now. :)

I collect and save money "like a jew" according to everyone on the Araatus TS.
Why?
:: In case my business gets reevaluated.
:: In case someone in Araatus needs money suddenly for a really f**king good reason.
:: For a rainy day.
:: As practice for real life.

I still have no idea how to make money on this server so all I can do is save what I have and hope for the best. Call me selfish if you will, but I give money for good work - not for nothing.

This post would pretty much apply to me as well, since I save money for about the same reasons as above. Since I came to SA:MP on July 27, 2008, I have never had over a million dollars in money, but I save money in case. The reason for my low net worth in cash is because I also have no clue how to make a ton of cash, I just save what's left from my FBI salaries (which I don't get when I'm inactive or away due to RL problems, like now) after I replace the cash I spent on day-to-day expenses.

Don't get me wrong though, when I helped new players get started, I'd give them money for a phone and a CB Radio, but I make sure I'm there when they use it so they don't just spend it on weapons. :)

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

We registered on the same day if I remember right  , wait I registered on forums a week after I joined when I applied for my drivers license...   :conf: anyway..

But you have a point, there is no use of donating a load of money to a new player for nothing, Try get them to RP to earn the money instead of just being given it for nothing, when I see a new player who needs some money and recently joined, I will donate once in a while when I can and I feel they could do with the money and will be gratefull to not waste it on weapons but actually do something usefull like a house, bizz or car.

Actually, I was already an MTA:VC regular when I arrived in SA:MP, I started there on April 28, 2008 when MTA:VC was still populated, and it was because of a cross-state ARPD case that I came to SA:MP. :)

Always watch the people you give money to, if you're helping them get started. :)
