Player makes his way into meeting the server's regulars, sees them using the brackets and thinks that's the way you do stuff. He starts liking it and there you go, another player completely alienated towards the Argonath Vision.
Case 2: New player who knows OOC/IC RP
Player makes his way into meeting the server's regulars, sees them using the brackets and concludes Argonath is another OOC/IC RP (or atleast tolerant to it) server. He starts using it like in the past servers and there you go, also another player alienated to the Argo Vision.

Case 1: God forbid a player does something he LIKES.

Case 2: New players do not have to learn the Argonath vision on their first day in the server. They are here to have fun, they will use brackets if THEY want to. It's not allowed to enforce such rules on others, so it is his own choice. Just because he THINKS it's the rules doesn't mean it is or ever will be, he will learn that it's not a part of the ruleset fast.

Actually those are the ones who can role play with all players on Argonath... Those who use the brackets and those who don't. Personally I don't think the brackets much difference at all, it's just the attitude that some players have such as saying (( Don't metagame )) when two minutes later they jump into a house, pull out a shotgun from their ass and start shooting it, doing completely the opposite of whatever they were just moaning about.

I acknowledge the fact that Giac's behavior has some problems, some even noted by high administration.

However, I'd like to point out that he is one of those people most loyal to Argonath, as opposed to some other problematic people who just stay here, shit on everything, and try to merge the IC/OOC with Argonath culture.

GiacJr is exactly the same as the moaners... He just thinks taking the side of the owners and using that as an excuse to attack other players will be tolerated by them, however the players will not tolerate it. Sure, I can tell that GiacJr is loyal to the owners as by his own admission he loves them but he doesn't know what he is on about at all. He simply joins the bandwagon with his 'Conservative' bullshit which he probably doesn't even know the meaning of. Conservatism is in part laissez-faire yet GiacJr likes to rub his nose into anything that is in turn intended for the better good of Argonath. One must deal with the reality that Argonath must adapt to the times, I'm not saying that this IC/OOC rule should be brought in - like I've already said - those who advocate it the most are themselves retarded players. GiacJr should respect the fact that everyone has a different opinion and only if they are a threat to Argonath, decide to post. IC/OOC as explained by Aragorn is a rule on other servers, there aren't many players at all who want this rule to be brought on Argonath. What people are confused about is why people use IC/OOC in the first place. Well, it's their choice and as Argonath is this free RP server then why should people not be allowed to use it so long as they don't enforce it on others. IC/OOC is ridiculously easy to spot without the brackets nonetheless if people wish to use it, they should be able to for their own sense of insecurity. I only use them when I'm with a non-Corleone who I don't know well and I can't imagine many other players not following a similar approach. I don't see why the brackets are causing so much of a fuss; I put this down the over the top response given to it by players such as yourself which just add publicity to this whole IC/OOC conondrum. IC/OOC is more of a style of RP that people choose to follow, not some sort of rule that players force others to use in most cases.

As for Violet, you say you know much about mta:vc "old days". Sorry, but you know far less than you proclaim. The fact that afk people was kicked often to give room for active players is an fact, not an lie. I am talking about 2006-2007 here.

Another fact also remains, the OOC/IC was brought in by other players, who originally wished to enforce it. Again this is about the first non-mta:vc visitors. By that I mean completly new Argonath players. And as such, this passed onto the general base, and then became some wierd sort of tradition among players, that seem to think OOC/IC is an official rule on Argonath.

We are against it simply because it causes more troubles than it causes happiness.
Flaming then claiming it was just OOC/IC.
Confusing new players and giving them an ideal/rule that Argonath is not officially supporting.

While I do see that we do this I am going to mention now in an reverse, so do the OOC/IC players:

Shutting out players/discriminating players based because they can't OOC/IC or don't want to.

You cannot be alienated towards anything. You can only be alienated away from it. Using brackets does not defer you from the Argonath Vision in any way, shape or form.

I along with others stand proud to be able to merge the traditional Argonath RP methodology with IC/OOC, DM, TDM and free roaming. Unlike many here, I hail from the dinosaur age of SA:MP in 2006 where people were running around naked pointlessly. Unknown to many of you, SA:MP is declining rapidly as the popularity of the platform wavers. We have to accept the fact that there will be a day where SA:MP ceases to exist. Until which, we are responsible for maintaining the identity and roots of Argonath.

If maintaining the identity of Argonath involves outlawing IC/OOC whilst holding a moral compass - I support the proposal. However, on the other hand - If Argonath want to continue attracting players of a dying breed, we must keep all channels of communication open when it comes to IC/OOC tolerance. As neglecting these stream of players will prove problematic. Especially for ensuring the long term viability of sustaining our player base as we continue to look to the future.

Argonath was not born on SA:MP, and it will not die with it. We survived MTA:VC, and we will survis SA:MP. If you happen to know a newer platform that is gaining in popularity and where Argonath can show its presence with the independence we strive for, please do not hesitate to bring it forward as idea.

Eventually the SAMP will die out, or people will all prefer a different RP style, so it'd be better to have the people who understand true Argonath stay then to have people who are all OOC/IC stay when that time comes...
You guys keep assuming that I am from MTA:VC times and such, but I joined Argonath in March 2007 on SA:MP - I didn't join MTA:VC for months later, at which point, it was dead. So all of my beliefs and arguments are entirely from SA:MP...And let me just make an assumption here - not many of you guys are aware of how awesome a small community is - everyone knows each other, everyone knows who to RP with to get some fun times, it's much more interesting, engaging and overall fun...So I dunno why you guys will do anything to keep Argonath getting many players and such...
