Although i hate to go off topic too, yesterday i saw a swat rancher chasing a random suspect..

In the public eye that supect could appear normal to you guys and wonder why a SWAT team is chasing him/her.

In law enforcement eye hes a cop killer and danger to society, he gotta be stopped.

SWAT is not made for chases,as far as i know.

If heavy weapons are needed to chase suspects, SAPD should use them and not SWAT.

Since the first SRU group was closed, they started up SRU SWAT instead.

If it has been changed into a response group, then pursuit is now among their duties. The terms "ground combat team" and "pursuit team" are specific, but the term "response team" can include either as both of them involve responding to a certain type of situation.

I wonder though, why did they have to change SWAT into a response team rather than actually refining the combat standards of the regular SAPD? The need for the police department's special division to roam the streets in order to take down heavily armed criminals insinuates that the regular officers themselves are not of sufficient capability to do such.

The SWAT chases those who are suspected for the most non violent crimes. Speeding, reckless.
