Unfortunately, Diego has failed to show any interest in his application despite multiple requests. He is welcome to apply again once he's interested.

We are currently barely needed, as people do not travel by air so often these days, but we're waiting for better days. Happy holidays to everyone!

A field day for the ATC Director - #01/01/2021

Spoiler for Click here for media:

On the 1st of January 2021, as the ATC Director, I had to be a part of a rather strange scenario. I was just walking down the streets of Fort Carson, when I suddenly see a Shamal jet crash land towards the north of Fort Carson, right next to the local mechanic shop. I ran there as fast as I could. 2 men managed to exit the wreck of the former powerful jet. It was a regular man and a priest, who later identified himself as "Father John E. Since" through the use of a Church ID. The identity of the other man remained unknown, unfortunately. Both of the people were heavily inebriated, as they kept on stumbling and hiccuping. It became quite clear that the priest was a mere passenger and the other man was the pilot, although at first he lied, claiming that there was a third person, the actual pilot, who died during the landing. The priest was let to walk off to his parish shortly after the incident, but the other man got inside his Bullet sports car and made a run for it, and he could not be further tracked. It became quite clear that he wasn't in the possession of a pilot licence either. ARPD Officer John Taggart got on the scene, and he was let to know the details of the plight. He said he would handle the case, although to this day nothing was heard regarding the well-dressed man who escaped the scene with a Bullet sports car.

This incident is to prove that the ATC is useful on the field as well, and not only while they are locked up inside their tower control buildings.

ATC Situation - #20/02/2021

ATC Controller Casper Darling arrived at the Abandoned Airstrip tower and saw that one Andromeda has been left stranded on the airstrip. After looking at the dangerous situation, he decided to call a pilot for assistance. A radio advertisement was relayed and Mr. Casper Darling was was contacted by Mr. Dean Martial. Mr. Dean and Mr. Casper negotiated on how the whole procedure will be carried out. Mr. Casper, decided to close down the airstrip.
As Mr. Dean successfully parked the Andromeda to the appropriate area, Mr. Casper supervised the situation. Encouraging Mr. Dean's work, Mr. Casper gave a token of thanks and awarded Mr. Dean 20,000 ARD for their help. The airstrip was reopened again for the public.

Establishing of a temporary HQ

Spoiler for Click here for media:

[

Due to a dangerous man acquiring a property at the AAP, the ATC has decided to relocate to a smaller, but just as functional building, in the heart of Fort Carson, which is branded as "KI 169". The machinery inside should be enough to allow us to properly do our jobs. The van which was previously parked at the AAP was also parked next to this building.

Special thanks to Michael Collin, our one and only Tower Control operator, for the media content!

Kind regards,
ATC Director,
Gruia Collin

A disappearing helicopter - #16/04/2021

Spoiler for Click here for media:

On the 16th of April 2021, while I was just waiting in the ATC building for some action, I checked the radar and suddenly saw a Maverick helicopter in the Flint County/Whetstone area. However, the very same chopper disappeared from the radar within just a few seconds. I proceeded to send out messages and in the end, I got an answer. It turned out that the pilot had trouble with the connection to the control tower. As he was asked about his heading, he let me know that he was going towards the Los Santos International Airport. However, he claimed that his car had been delivered to his insurance company to Fort Carson, Bone County, and he had to change his route. At one point, the radar showed the helicopter constantly being in Red County, however, the pilot let me know that there was no problem with his helicopter and that he was just taking a longer route throughout the countryside. Later on, the pilot claimed that he would land in the area of a private property, but he also assured me that he was allowed to do so by the owner of that very property. The landing was smooth. Fortunately, the weather was rather peaceful at the time too.

Returning to normal operations

The property at the AAP was purchased by another man and we are glad to announce that we can now carry on our operations like normal, back at the AAP control tower, as we are no longer endangered. Have safe flights, pilots! We'll be watching you.

Kind regards,
ATC Director,
Gruia Collin

The first post has been edited, as well as the regulations, in order to reflect the current status of the server. Our current staff (Mike Collin) is to be properly introduced to these regulations and to always stick to them when directing air traffic.

Moreover, I am happy to announce the promotion of Mike Collin to the rank of Traffic Control Officer. He has shown dedication and involvement in the group, and this must be rewarded somehow. Congratulations!

If you are interested and have got what it takes, feel free to apply!

We are also implementing quantification schemes, so that we may reward staff with monthly salaries based on their work. Lastly, we are of course willing to listen to ideas from the public. If they are interested "in redefining the goals of our work", people may feel free to come up with ideas (speaking of which, there is a discussion currently going on in the Argonath discord about an ATC idea. Feel free to contribute with your own vision!).

Cheers,
ATC Director
Gruia Collin

ATC Situation 15/07/2021

It's not always possible that the person responding from the other side of the radio will be a responsible citizen.
While working in the San Fierro ATC tower, I and Mr. Gruia experienced a very interesting incident. While monitoring the San Andreas airspace, we recieved a transmission from a pilot who said that they wanted to land at Fort Carson, and when we asked them to land at the nearest airstrip - that being the Abandoned Airstrip at Bone County - they ignored all the transmissions and landed at Fort Carson. The plane, a shamal, was stationary and was last pinged in the RADAR at Fort Carson. Few moments later, the same pilot informed us that they are flying to Los Santos. As we proceeded to ask the pilot questions about why they landed at Fort Carson, they sent out the transmission that their plane crashed and the Shamal disappeared from the radar, again.
It was then, when Mr. Collin decided that we should head to the last pinged location of the aircraft. We took off in the ATC Van and drove to Fort Carson, finding the aircraft in front of the Fort Carson Sheriff Department!
After thinking about various ways of moving the aircraft away from the road to a safe place, it was decided to tow away the Shamal.
While we were doing the towing, a Sultan pulled over nearby and we saw a gentleman inside it. Upon asking that wether they were the owner, they denied it and said that they were coming from Los Santos. We left them to their own work and successfully towed away the Shamal.
Looks like the pilot ran away before anyone could arrive at the scene, luckily there were no casualties.

ATC Situation 11/08/2021

A person might think working at the ATC is very boring and non-fruitful job; without any risks whatsoever. Well, it is not always the case. Sometimes we face such incidents which are very risky. The same happened in this evening. While I was about to complete my shift as a final flight had returned to base and it was time to go back home; I heard a transmission over the radio of a man asking "uh.. how do I fly this sh*t..". Due to lack of a pilot school in the state; we face these types of situations a lot. So my first response was to ask them whether it was their first time flying a plane. My assumptions were right and wrong at the same time. I was right about the person flying the plane to be the rookie; but I was wrong about the person being a pilot.

As I continued talking with them; they were growing aggressive. Finally, they told me that they wouldn't hesitate crashing the plane into a building. The person was a highjacker! The San Andreas airspace was soon shut down and all the flights were ordered to land immediately. Only the highjacked Shamal was in the air now. Upon checking the flight logs; it was found that 150 passengers were on board! We had a huge risk of loosing innocent lives.
Gladly, a Hunter unit soon took off and started the search for the flight. The flight was finally intercepted when it nearly crashed due to the highjacker's negligence.
After some time; the flight's pilot took the radio command and said that they were highjacked. We asked them to follow the Hunter unit and land at the Las Venturas Airport. The emergency landing was a success. Upon inspection; it was found that the left engine of the flight stopped working due to a mid-air collision, a possible bird strike. The pilot informed us that the highjacker bailed out of the flight by using a parachute.

The injured pilot was rushed to the hospital by the EMS and the Airport was open to normal use again.

Spoiler for screenshots:

The experience was full of risk as the lives of 150 passengers were in my and the Hunter unit's hands. But as the saying goes, "All is well when the end is well" we all were finally contended as all the passengers were safe and sound, and the pilot was also taken care of by the EMS.

Mike
