I thought it might be useful to clear some things up regarding the recent spate of mayoral declarations. Firstly with regard to the legality of this:

If someone makes a post declaring that they are the mayor of a particular area this should be considered role-play only and should not be considered authorised officially by Argonath, fundamentally there is no difference between role-playing a mayor and role-playing any other role and as such it should be encouraged.

Role-playing the position of mayor gives no privilege or authority over any area or the people within it, anyone who wants to role-play a mayor may do so as long as they do not attempt to claim ownership or rule over any person or area, they may not exclude any person from a territory and may not claim, or imply, any kind of official Argonath position.

In addition, should Argonath decide to implement official mayors for these areas, no preferential treatment will be afforded to those who have declared themselves in that position already.

All of the above applies to any other position in addition to Mayor including, but not limited to, Deputy Mayor, Secretary or citizen.

Overall this is a positive step and if it encourages players to make more use of other areas of San Andreas then it will have our unofficial support in the sense that we will not forbid the activity. We will look at each case on its merits and if we find anyone using such role-play as a way to hinder the game-play of others we will remove any related posts and take any action in game we deem necessary.

This is an opportunity to further role-play outside of the heavily populated areas so please embrace it in the spirit that it is intended, just see it as a little harmless fun and let the administration know if it leads to any problems.

Just in the same way that two hotdog vendors can exist at the same time in the same area, the same applies to mayors. However, if we believe a player is calling himself mayor just to grief another player who is role-playing a mayor we will act against that.

If a player has called himself a mayor and another player also wants to do the same in the same area, what could be a lot of fun is for both players to organise role-play, non-official elections to determine the winner or alternatively work together in some other way. However players are under no obligation to do this and if they just want to bum around Dillimore or Bayside and call themselves Mayor that is entirely up to them.

Its kinda fuck*d up as to how many people are shitting on this idea, as this is a RP server, don't like it? Go on a DM server or cops and robbers. We are here to RP, I remember back in 2006 and '07 when RP was as easy to come by as easy as it is to come by a player with combat shotgun these days. Its getting outrageous , has the "RP" in RPG really disappeared that much? It is really a disappointment to be honest. If you don't like the idea, then let it go and go back to your script loved and enraged lives in Argonath and let us have our role-play. We don't want anyone who is against RP, in our RP's. If your willing to RP, then hell lets enjoy the moment. I hope this opens some of your eyes.

If by 'act against' you mean attack, then no. If by 'de-throne' you mean kill, then no. If you mean harass, provoke, abuse, grief, troll, insult or any other nonsense, then no.

No problem, if you want to call yourself mayor of LS, LV, SF and Bayside then who's stopping you? As long as you keep to the guidance I have stated above, do as you wish.

It really isn't that many people, consider how many people play the game and compare it to those who are coming on the forums and complaining; it's a small proportion. There will always be some people that cannot bear the idea of someone coming up with a good idea and then making it work, it exposes the limits of their own imagination and causes them to rage. Just focus on making your idea work, and leave them to their misery.

Right now theres like 10 mayor topics, everyone a mayor.
Maybe someone should arrange this whole thing, collect all the "mayors" into one big government and also place him as the governor, ordering anyone who is in his mayor system

Unfortunately it would not look right to group them together, it would give the impression of Argonath sanction. Of course if the various players who are role-playing Mayors want to do that they may.

People should roleplay mayors presidents and whatever else they wish, but they should get over it if someone is also challenging them.
