they log your downloads, and once you get trapped, BOOM they sue you and give a share of the "earnings" to your isp.

Doesn't work like that here.

We have a 3 strike system. ISP's HAVE to give you TWO warnings about copyright infringement before they are required to gave out your details to a party whos copyright has been infringed.

"Anti-Piracy" my ass. It's all money, money, and more money.

What if someone copyrighted the wheel so that only the Sumerians would have it?

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

I don't really give a fuck about my privacy.. What I do give a fuck about is corporations shutting down websites that make them lose money and force us to buy their product, wich will not happen.

"These pirates" (not all are good or have good intentions though) are people who dare to defy corporations that wouldn't feel any remorse if they sued you over the smallest shit that comes out of your ass.

Hurting sales? The Avengers broke box-office records even though the "pirate industry" had already pirated it in some regions. The fact that websites such as The Pirate Bay and other "warez" / file-sharing sites are still up is a testament to whatever freedom the Internet still has left. Once governments can take all of those down at will, then you will know the corporations have finally controlled everything.

As directly as possible; if you prefer to have the pirate industry shut down merely for the benefit of the corporations, then you can continue kissing corporate ass while they make money off of you, but I doubt the majority of Argonath would do likewise.

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

Imagine a world if all games and movies where free, because everyone illegally downloaded them... what would this lead too? NO MORE FU*CKING MOVIES OR GAMES.  Im mean, by all means yes I do support free sh*t cause well free Sh*t is cool, but moderate the amount. If you like a game you've alternatively downloaded, then buy it.

@Those saying "they're just laying people off"
... Obviously, they are not making as much money because half their sh*t is being pirated so they have to resort to budget cuts.

@Those saying "Why should I give my money to those who already have billions"
*facepalm* again, they get all that money from making games, they make more games using that money. I mean, hell yes the CEO's and other high executives can do F*ck all with your money, but they still use the money to make more games.

and the UK government is kinda lacking here, they should know for every 1 time you take down 1 site, 10 more rise to fill its place. Seriously think back to the WikiLeaks period. US government pwned that site offline in a matter of hours... shortly after which over 100 more mirrors became available, and grew each day.

Let them block whatever they want, if it's lowering their profit. They have employees to pay, you know.

but, I must say I can't wait for the day when you can illegally download a real house :)

You're all talking like you use the Piratebay the ''good'' way. I'm pretty sure most of you download movies and games that cost money from it, and when the governement does something against it you all go around and scream that it's ''Destroying our privacy'', and ''our freedom!''
It's not like those 'prates' would buy these games and movies in the first place.
There is no money lost if you think about it.

So, you'se saying it's fair if pirates get everything for free while we need to pay for it?

Who said everything? Stop generalizing. Besides, why spend money on a "crippled" version of a software, a low quality movie without a physical container, or a heavily compressed MP3 version of a song? I do buy things when the deserve to be bought. I specially do this for music related stuff. Also, watching a cam rip of a movie isn't as good as watching it at the actual movie theater. They shut down Megaupload and what did it do besides mostly lose a lot of personal and legitimate files? Even musicians have questioned whether it has done anything or not.
"
Quote
Any other musicians out there notice that ever since they shut down MegaUpload, the money has just been POURING in?
"
That quote was said in sarcasm.

Quote
Ryssdal: So obviously you're being sarcastic with that tweet. But are you as a musician able to make money with all the piracy out there?
Coulton: I am. I've been happily co-existing with piracy for the last six years. I make a better living as a musician than I did when I was writing software.
Ryssdal: Really?
Coulton: Yeah.
Ryssdal: But isn't it just wrong to do what Megaupload has been letting people do?
Coulton: Yeah, I don't have any question in my mind that what they were doing was illegal and probably immoral. But what I was getting at with that tweet is: Does the activity on that site really affect my bottom line very much? Or indeed the bottom line of any content creator? If groups like the MPAA spent more time creating a platform where people could buy their stuff legally and easily, instead of trying to block all this piracy, I think they'd get better results.
Ryssdal: Well you know, the Motion Picture Association -- as you said, the MPAA -- and a whole bunch of other people are, in theory, working on that. But what about you as an artist? Do you ever put yourself up there and see what happens with it?
Coulton: Yeah I do that all the time. In fact, when I first started, I wrote a song a week for a year and I put them all up for free, under the theory that piracy was in fact good for an artist, and really what you want is exposure more than anything else. It seems to have worked out pretty well for me.

That above quote wasn't. That's a music perspective. In a gaming perspective, some developers have supported and others have blamed piracy on other stuff.. I honestly don't know about the film industry.

TL;DR Piracy is exaggerated. It's due to a bad product or due to the difficulty of getting the product or making it function properly. I buy things that are worth buying and when I know that the profits will help make more great things. I also do it to support the people, like independent developers or musicians. I myself support Creative Commons and license all of my music under that. I also choose to make it free.

Also, blocking the internet is something which I, and one confirmed forefather of the internet, do not support. Especially not for corporate fÏ…cks who want us to buy their mostly bad products.

Its time to grow up guys and stop spreading shit daily.

Piracy is illegal and it should stay that way. If something's halfassed, it suddenly gives you the right to pirate it? If it's so terrible why would you even bother downloading it illegally off the internet? It doesn't make sense. Piracy should be stopped.

Piracy should be stopped because pirating is to mainstream eh?
