I got this idea from Gandalf, JDC and the current system of banana.
How it goes is like this, i suggest two new forms of punishment. Both similiar in concept to the ingenious idea of the banana.
The first one, would be issued by administrators to those who decide to go on a shooting spree, or just have too many triggerhappy reports on them.
Are admins often troubled by them?
Are they often punished, thus resulting in lots of moaning for the devs?
Is the unban section mostly cluttered by these events, resulting in a lot of inconvinience to the managers?
From gandalf's post, i got a simple idea that could resolve this.

A weapons ban, that can be put on any player in the game. This ban, can last up to 72 hours and during this period, the player may not carry any sort of weapons. This way they are unable to do ANY damage, moaning is saved for the administration, 60 percent of the bans do not happen, and if they dont learn their lesson then stronger punishments will ofcourse follow.

Secondly, how many of the times do admins have to leave what they are doing to go deal with car rammings?
Alot of the reports constitute of rammings, which the admins usually respond to with warns and kicks. This ofcourse, doesnt prohibit them from doing it all over again once the admin logs off.
A better, alternate idea got in my head after seeing gandalf's vehicle ban, but ofcourse hinted to me by JDC.
This ban can last up to 48 hours, and during that period the player may not enter any car as driver. He can still enter them as passenger, he should look into hiring a taxi .  This is almost certain to fix the players, because, well, can you imagine how hard it will be for them to not be able to drive a car in a grand theft auto game? But ofcourse as an alternative we can always just ban twenty.

F.A.Q

How will the admins determine the length of the ban?
Up to the administration team, i suppose it will be similiar to a banana.

Will this ALWAYS fix the player?
No, but it will give the player a advanced warning before something more grave such as a ban follows.

How does the admin team benefit?
A variety of reasons, the managers will not have to deal as much reports, most of which constitute things such as deathmatching. The admin team will be able to ban a player from a rulebreak, hence the player wont be able to repeat the action for a while, hence avoiding them constantly dealing with several reports of the same rulebreak before banning the person. If he still does not learn from these long bans, then ofcourse the worst case scenario would mean stronger punishments, but i doubt the ability to do one rulebreak in 48 hours will allow many players to reach the ban stage.

What would constitute a gun ban?
Not able to carry any weapons, cannot buy weapons from ammunation, load from home, recieve from friends or recieve from any script such as duty.

Can you sum up this bigass topic for me?
Admins get less reports, players get a chance to improve, less moaning to devs, unban requests more than halved, everybody wins.

Bloody brilliant

So..what happens when someone just cant stay away from the bullets? A temporary gun-ban thats what happens!
A weapons ban can be up to 72 hours, and players are unable to carry guns during that period. This way the player cant do any harm, is punished, and he can still play the game. Fixes em, while no damage is done.

A 'criminalban' where you are not able to carry any weapon has been suggested though.... :rules:

What would constitute a gun ban? How would repeat offenders be dealt with? How would admins determine appropriate length?

The current system is actually better.

I love the idea. I personally think it'd be more of a kick in the dick than your usual punishments for those kinds of offenses.

Although, I do see one possible problem. A gun/vehicle ban would be considered less harsh than your standard temp/perm ban or possibly even kick, which would mean there would be an increased chance of them being handed out easily, even in the case of a misunderstanding.

We gotta have some trust in our administrators, im sure they'll be able to use them properly

It would be better to remove them (the offenders) from the server.

If you think the administration team does not have its share of "harsh" punishment up its sleeves, ask the scammers who were stripped of millions from their accounts as punishment.

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

I very well trust the admin team is capable of that and much more, although the entire idea is so that we do not have to resort to harsh punishments, but instead use them as a second alternative. Let's face it, every time someone gets banned or a punishment like that, nobody really wins.

Thats the point, so that the main resort of a administrator is to use these instead of harsher ones, similiar to how a player gets banana-d before a tempban or ban. Although, they cant do any real damage, so what is better, a ban from the game which lasts several days, or a few days ban from doing a small activity.
