I believe that I had a role to play in the removal of the awards system here, so I might explain my reasoning for that with a few examples, if I can find some images and stuff.

I was running the last awards that were meant to be done, the 2010 awards, and during the whole thing, FORTY individuals were disqualified for cheating in some way. Just take a moment to consider that number. In addition to this, TWO entire groups were disqualified from the votes for cheating, including Gvardia and 58th Street. I created a topic to deal with these issues, the link is here, and the 20 pages of responses in that topic work as proof of how detrimental to this community the awards have the potential to be.

Rather than appreciating that I was giving up my free time to deliver a service, people decided to cheat, lie, deceive, flame, insult and provoke, just so that they could get a little pixel award underneath their names.

Just to show you the extent that some people went to for that little pixel, I'm going to release all the that I can find regarding those oscars, to further prove that awards like that should NEVER return to this community.

Can you vote for me as the worst driver ?:)

This is all that I can find in my PM's. I don't care enough to go digging through my photobucket or my computer archives to find every shred of evidence I have on everyone, but I do hope that what you see here shows to you why the awards have not been done for a couple of years.

Sincerely,
GiacJr

I believe what Giac has posted there is some pretty shameful behaviour and it's disappointing that people feel the need to go around cheating, asking for votes for, as you put it Giac, a pixel under their name.

If players are like that in awards, I wonder if the same players can be trusted in things such as competitions and events.

I'll reserve further judgement, but I'm certainly disappointed by what Giac has shown us today.

I'm honestly not surprised by Giac's screenshots either. Every year people beg me via PM to vote for them too. Of course, just because they ask I never do, but it's amusing to see them try so hard to cheat and still not end up winning.

Well what, you want people to get voted after they declare their campaigns?

The real cheating I see is buying votes, convincing/asking to vote for you should've been allowed IMO.

You know you're wrong if you hide behind your invisible powers you never had in real life. Those who watch me will entirely understand.

Why do I do what I do? Because I know you won't stand someone opposing you. And because you know you can't prove me I'm wrong.

This isn't voting for someone into a position. The point is to see how the community truly feels...not just have friends vote for each other because they are friends. People are supposed to actually earn the award from a public view standpoint.

I wish everyone did like me and didn't cheat..

I'm not being arrogant, but I wasn't even aware I'm nominated for the award I possess now.

Likewise, the awards shouldn't be something to get worked up over, it should be a surprise like the real oscars and so on, you don't have a clue what's happening until you are given the award.

Agreed on both of mine. When I received the first one, I didn't even know the awards were in progress at the time.

It's  human nature that friends nominate friends for awards, nothing shameful about that.

And we do not try to be real life, as why would you ever play real life if you have one ? We play the GTA universe, and our players should try to live in the GTA world, not the real one.

The Oscars and so on were stopped due to people cheating in them multiple times and never learning.

THAT CAN'T BE TRUE !

I haven't even seen a single screenshot of 58th St. cheating votes, nor did I see it above.
I claim ourselves innocent even today, yet the behavior of cheating/asking (for) votes like the ones showed above is just lame and it's good that you handled them well, Giac.

If they are doing it because they think their friends actually deserve the award, then yes, nothing wrong with it...but if they are nominating them just to get them a random award, then that would be cheating the system.

I'm still waiting for that proof you were supposed to send me a year ago. Until then, your claims of Gvardia and 58th Street being involved in cheating are nothing but slander and blatant lies.
