Poor, impoverished children dying in poverty or related violence is nothing new, and has been around even before the modern age. It happens everywhere and not just in America.

That is why I find it suspicious that the government decided to act only after more privileged children were targeted, rather than trying to institute reforms that will end violence itself at the grassroots level. Violence among the lower classes has long been around, and so far the government has not spearheaded any move on the same level as Obama's reaction after the recent mass shootings (correct me if I'm wrong) to end it.

Of course, with today's culture, it is only to be expected.

I never limited the setting to Africa nor the context to death from hunger. Re-read the post and you shall see that I am referring to child deaths from poverty, as well as violence, the two being closely related in certain areas.

If you assume that death from poverty and violence happen only in Africa, then your knowledge on the issues is severely limited.

So much lack of knowledge here. First, you can't remove the second amendment. Second, you can't remove the bill of rights. Thirdly, its a democratic view not really a socialist so stop reading fox news. Lastly, the United States and United Kingdom are strong allies and the US would never "turn" on them, IF anything the US would turn to them for insight or a helping hand.

As for the constitution and the supposed "domino effect" of the amendments, keep in mind that the USA's founding fathers did not have these problems to deal with in their time.

While I can't truely debate the fact that it did take the slaughter of 20 children as a wake up call, he did address that this is an action needed after the numerous attacks we have had on places around the United States since Columbine, various sources report roughly 20 school shootings since then, and over 70 mass shooting since Columbine which was only in 1999. Additionally he specified the Colorado movie theater shooting, whichhad vicitims of multiple social classes, gender and race; while it wasn't the "wakeup" call it was a strike in support of the agenda.
