Unless there are too many of people similar to your forum name example:

example
example1
example2
etc etc

This is the only time I'd say you should ask for a namechange. Clearly... that would cause a confussion.

However;

Your username is what you are identified by and log in with. It is not a flashy display showcase for you to advertise your latest clan tag in. You have signatures, custom titles, and personal text fields for that. Pick a name that represents you without any group if you don't want to deal with not being able to change it.

It's not a roleplay name, either. It's your account name.

This.

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

There is no reason to need to have your name ever changed. If there is a serious issue that is leading to it being absolutely changed, that would be one of the times you would contact a forum Administrator regarding it.

Over the past month or more, I've had people talk with me trough PM ingame saying they know me.

That's great and all, for you that is. But I have no idea who the fuck they are until they either tell me, or I have to strike up a conversation.
Not only does it feel wierd, it also confuses the everliving fuck out of me. People claiming to be X and Y.

I do not want the same on the forums, people need to have a reasonable reason to change their name, not just as a fashion statement or whatever.
Besides, it's getting annoying enough ingame.

Life has been a fucking hell recently, including accepting what has happened to me in the past. Dunno if life will ever get better but at the least I'm still hanging on. Lol.

Personally in my opnion i like the idea of what everyone else said about having it so you can only change it every 6 months, as i feel my needs a change as it is nothing to do with me in any way, so therefore that would be a good reason for a change, but as everyone else said it should be limited to once every 6 months. Cant see a reason why not, if people abuse it or it dosent work out properly then remove it, worth a try i say.

Exactly. People also need to keep in mind that impersonating has never been allowed in this community, so if you see such a thing, you should be contacting a forum or game server Administrator about it anyway. It would only result in their name being changed, not your's.

There is no reason to in the first place. People shouldn't be trying to hide themselves from the community so they can get away with things, for starters. Secondly, the only other reason why anyone changes their name is because they want to display it as a new player identity. As I mentioned before, the forum already gives you several other places to do that. Your forum name is nothing more than an account name and identifier to you as a person. Unless there is a serious issue which requires you to contact a forum Administrator to fix, there is no reason for people to be changing their names at all. It is not a method for advertising your group tags or RP names.

I remember DellStorm doing forum namechanges for a while. Not sure if he still does..

Anyway, I think people should be able to change their forum name at least once. That wouldn't be such a big of a problem, I guess.

Your application has been denied!
Reason : You are too good for our family.

Not necessary. A name change is only reasonable if there are 33 Kazes in the server and you want to change to avoid confusion. If that is the case then why not?

1. He did when there were issues with existing names.
2. Why? There is no reason to. If they screwed up their name from the start, and it is that serious of an issue to them, they can contact a forum Administrator to explain the problem.

Exactly. Even in this case, you should be contacting forum and game server Administrators regarding the issue to resolve it anyway.

There is. People misuse the ability. Why would they need the "one chance" anyway? If they screwed up their name, again, contact a forum Administrator and explain the issue.

So you mean that everyone that wants a new name needs to make a new account? What if I really really really don't want my name? The answer I get when I ask is "sorry mate, that's not enough for a namechange".

And that forces you to make a new account and that "floods" the forum with new accounts and old ones just being "left behind".

No, you just deal with it. You made the choice to pick the name you wanted. If you no longer want it, that is your fault, not the forum's.

Wait, wasn't your forum name [LA]SugarD? That sounds a bit hypocrite to me.
