Hi,

My PC is fun but when I turn it off via Start > Shutdown it turns on automatically again, to keep it off I turn it off from the back. Any idea how to fix this?

make sure it's actually shutdown and not restart

seriously

right click on task bar > Properties > Start Menu tab > Power action button has to be set to shut down

In the system there's a feature called "Wake on LAN" which basically means you can boot your PC over the network, but this also can cause the PC to boot up after shutting down.
To test, unplug your network cable and shut down, if it stays off, there's your problem.

To disable it follow the little guide I've created..  :devroll:

Open the Start Menu and Right Click on Computer then click on Manage.

That will open the Computer Management screen, from there select Device Manager on the left hand side, and then expand the Network Adapters tab.

Right click on your network adapter, if you have more, repeat this step for each device. Select Properties.

Now look for the Power Management tab and select that, once you have done that then Un-Tick those two boxes I have highlighted.

Once you are done, just click Ok and close all of the pages.
Try shut down your PC and you are done.  ;)

It is Shutdown

Devin, I have a wireless adaptor, not a network cable

EDIT: Either way I tried it, let me get back with you on that!
EDIT 2: That didn't work, Devin!

Computer shuts down automatically

Then it's the wireless adapter giving you trouble, so did you disable the "Allow this device to wake the computer" feature for the wireless card?
If it's still giving you trouble then you may have to disable it via the BIOS.
Depending on your PC and BIOS it may vary unfortunately.

What motherboard do you have if it's a desktop, otherwise what laptop is it?

You missed a the video I edited, check it. Regarding the wireless adapter, it doesn't give me the option to untick/tick to allow the device to wake up the computer, just says allow the comp to turn off the device to save power

At first glance your board itself seems to be running extremely hot for some odd reason..

Try this out:

Press F2 during boot to enter BIOS Setup.
Go to the Power menu.
Set Wake-on-LAN to "Off/Disabled". (I am not too sure how it will be represented in the BIOS)
Save by pressing F10 and exit the BIOS Setup.

 :)

Ok here is what came up, I did put 'Power Off' and it did not change anything.

What did you change last before the computer started giving these problems?

Remove the power cable from the PC and then plug it back in, don't turn it on, just leave it and see if it turns itself on.

Nothing, I didn't touch the computer. Let me check on that. One second.

Devin

No, it did not turn itself on.

ElMartu, any other suggestions?
