We ran tests in the PC clinic.... We could all get an XP machine signing onto msn... starting a game up...  loggin in... booting up... all faster than a vista machine.... both OS's on two laptops with the exact same specs.. running vista home premium and XP media centre edition.

Was UAC enabled on the Vista machine?

I thought Vista would be cool until I saw negative reviews. XP for life.
Vista is just crap if I hear all those bad things  xD
so XP FTW!

So try it, then you can say its crap..

lol Good ol' OSX Leopard for me...But thats not the point.

I prefur XP by far, more compatible with programs. But like Watti said earlier:
Vista for school-work, XP for games
Thats what i do, i have XP on my gaming PC, and Vista is installed on my laptop in which i use for schoolwork and more stuff, not games.

Personnally i dont have anything against the OSes, i use both, and im happy with both.

I guess after the difficulty of using it becomes too much, people do just upgrade back to XP.
I use the word "upgrade" intentionally.
People that do that don't even try it for a month.
Probably never get to download the fixes.

And I bet they DOWNGRADED to an illegal copy of XP. When they had a legal copy of Vista.

The thing is. I see alot of XP users complain about Vista.
But I don't see any Vista user wanting to come back or saying bad thing about Vista.

Vista problems were a fact. Now, they are just myths.

Nowadays, every forum is full of fanboys. People that crap on things, they don't even know.

FYI, Liero works under WinXP, but:

a) without sound
b) when launched through DOS-Box (emulator)

It was an example and sooner or later all will have Vista and look back and laugh when we used XP

I love Windows Vista. I've used it for quite a while now, and I have to say I'm very satisfied with it. It works tip-top, and I recommend it to everybody (if you have an old PC, make sure you check out the system requirements first :D).

If you're experiencing things that not work, just click on properties and set the compatibility mode for XP. Everything should work, and if it doesn't... Just use Google for christ sake!

This is a topic I made on another forum and I cant be bothered to edit it...

VS

Well I just *cough* purchased Windows Vista and I'm disappointed, it's not really that much better than Windows XP. It's obviously a lot more aesthetically pleasing than Windows XP but Windows Vista makes my laptop have to work twice as hard to run the same applications as I would be running on Windows XP. Why anyone would pay for it, I do not know but is there something I am missing because I'm not impressed. It is nearly 2:30AM and so I can't really fully explore Windows Vista but from what I have seen so far, it's just a better looking version of Windows XP. Please elaborate and give me your opinion.

Well, Roadkill...
Think of it like this.

You have a guy that lifts weights at a gym, he can lift 200 pounds like paper.
Then you ask him to lift up 400 pounds, and he can't do it.

Then you have a huge guy walk in, and he lifts the 400 pound weight like it's nothing.
All in all - if you have a shitty computer, then Vista will be slow.
Vista is alot better than XP... *deja-vu*

Look at my recent posts instead.

Hayden, i think you are the only one that supports Vista

Hardware is not the problem when you have Vista

Vista is the problem when you have very good Hardware

Because, Vista is full of bugs , laggy, Doesnt let you to play some old awesome games...

And dont ask me how you know that, Because im currently running Vista, With Firefox dont run at all, Opera dont support flash player on Vista, And almost all downloaded games .rar dont work

And dont tell me its not Vista's fault, because everything on XP works Excellent

Well, just like any application, some will have bugs, and some others will be bugless.
I'm just very very lucky to be honest, everything works 100% over here, no slowdowns, games start up within 5 seconds, heavy programs like Photoshop Cs3 & Sony Vegas Pro open within 6 seconds.

Jserg, did you install it yourself on a fresh harddrive?
Did you buy a pre-built PC?
Is UAC on?

Well mine works fine to but I'd rather get more performance for my money. But the only reason I am keeping Vista is because my eyes like it. :)

Windows XP will be exterminated soon anyway just like Windows 98 was.

Errrrrr.... no

Ofcourse it's going to be slower, but if it's that much of a problem then your specs probably aren't good enough to run it very smoothly.

As for compatibility issues, nearly all of them that I have encountered were resolved one way or another.

I have seen maybe a few bugs related to the visuals and some others but nothing that should be of any major problem.

Only bad thing that stands out atm is the half open TCP connection limit which I haven't found a way to increase without messing up my Wifi.
