Well, no matter what the deficiences, the concept of the so called "100000 car" was so popular that Tata's competitior, another Indian company called Mahindra & Mahindra is bringing out the "Renault Yeni" priced at 130k. Obviously, companies wouldnt invest in the ultra small car segment without good reason. It is a lil more stylish and it may be something I look at in the near future. This is the Yeni below:

Well, these cars are said to be based on the not-so-popular Reva(launched sometime in the 90s), as seen below. Reva was not popular cuz it was a battery powered car which ran a max of 80km on a full charge. But the concept of an ultra small car was popular, so the companies put 2 and 2  together and out came Nano and Yeni.
In highly populated countries, these cars would be very appreciated. Here is the Reva btw

haha well that is a Maruti Suzuki-800 in India. Costs around 200k and is slowly being phoased out as the Nano is now in the market.
