The first guy who tries to pull the "you need a warrant" trick will be shown a special customs badge that allows to search vehicles. You claim it does not exist ? OMG you are so good in RP....

Oh yeah, I forgot that customs are also allowed to search your things without your consent. Though I have never seen anyone roleplay a customs officer.

Edit; I'm going to go roleplay it right now! Will be fun to see reactions!

Grizzy - there was no illusion in the previous scenario.

If the two could not be distinguished apart, it could indicate the Argonath RP strength of seperating IC/OOC may be weak.

/p There is a hacker at Grove Street and there are no admins on. He has a minigun and is killing everybody. Send all Police to Grove Street to kill him.

IC/OOC, Argonath RP or both combined?

@Frank
In the current script version cheaters can't use a Minigun

I think this topic gives an answer about the situation itself (players uniting and fighting a cheater). Sure there were admins there, but they acted like admins only when it came to end the fun and ban the cheaters.

Play for fun and friendship, not for stats or achievements.
If you do not want to roleplay, log off. Remember that "do not force RP" does NOT mean you can refuse to interact with other players.

...Weapon and health hackers are good sport because it allows us to the treat them like a rouge superman. :D I'm sure many of the other veterans will side with me here in feeling the same way - I like to be pushed out of my comfort zone, becoming agile in the process and playing like I did back in 2005. What many people consider being a serious problem or threat to their well being is another opportunity for me to have some fun and create a event in my domain. The same would be true for others if they would open their eyes rather then playing see no evil, hear no evil all day long.

Grizzy - this is exactly my point.  :D

If you look at my post (above) in the topic referenced, you may work the rest out.  ;)

We just had a USA Customs office roleplay at the Flint County - Los Santos bridge for over an hour. It was a lot of fun, and guess what.. No one complained. :)

If someone choses to put everything that the real life someone says (not what his character says; like "phone brb")... Is it a big deal? Does this pop up in your thoughts and mock you when you are on your way to school the next day? Does this make this someone a bad person? Is it a sin? Does this someone go to hell because of this? DOES IT FUCKING MATTER?

It is a "tourist attraction" that cannot be seen daily. It was fun though.

I have don't really understand where this whole argument of IC/OOC has arisen from. I just find sometimes OOC things, such as PM, CB, brackets is a convenient way to bound over the communications gap and limitations of the game (in terms of what can be done in RP), and sometimes to make things obvious to players who don't quite understand.

I have been an admin and a cop for a very very long time, and when I go off duty and do civilian RP, I get cop abused all the time. I have never once gone "help I am abused", I only cancel suspect myself if a cop requests it, and I don't complain for it wasting my time. I try to make solutions through RP character.

I believe all role-play should be Fun, Fair and Feasible.
- Fun for all players involved, everyone has a role to play and has some interaction relevant to their character
- Fair so that no player feels bitter or angry because of the consequence involved. Involves offering choices to players so there is not 1 outcome that favours only yourself.
- Feasible such that you can visualise what is happening and are able to communicate this to others.

If all 3 of these are valid, there is no meta gaming or power gaming, and IC OOC does not become an issue. You can use OOC methods like /cb, /pm, brackets effectively to aid the roleplay to communicate ideas, hint  how you want the roleplay to go, or just make something obvious to a player in a convenient way, which is useful if a player misses half the RP or you are managing a RP where organisation is paramount.

Obviously the "3 F's" are ideal and this does not happen. So we get lots of moaners who  use OOC to effectively ruin the feel of the RP, usually as a consequence of someone introducing unfair or infeasible roleplay. OOC is necessary to inform admins and players of something they feel unfair, and because this is a game, and we are all human, we have admins to help out and try to make the roleplay fair and correct others by doing some OOC magic.

  Anyway, on topic:
"Forced RP" is accepted by all when the RP offers fun, fairness (choices) and is not completely retarded (e.g. i found a nuke in my pants and will blow up SA if you dont pay me $9k) (so it is feasible). The whole IC OOC  I dont even know why there is a problem. It can be used to aid RP and to ruin it.

This is because we are human, and people like to win in all kind of ways, and that's why majority do not offer fairness and fun, and do not understand that their "victim" will go on to do the same to others, cause they know no better.

As for the whole cops thing about pulling players over. Wanna know why cops get bad reputation? Cops do not pull over random players. Some players might be driving to get somewhere for a reason and cops usually cause a massive inconvenience to players who are actually abiding by the laws. You should ONLY EVER pull over citizens to check car, license, anything - when you have a RP reason to be suspicious of them. You DO NOT pull over guys who are abiding the law and say "random check" cause that is unfair for them and annoying.

And for god sake, everyone knows /su kills RP cause it puts cops in a massive advantagous position, so don't do it for stupidly minor crimes cause it bothers admin with all the moan it creates (cause it is genuinly unfair - minor crimes are not punishable by death or jail! Give ticket or RP punishment!) and also you will get more fun RP with criminals who you don't instantly suspect or spray in the face with pepperspray.

JDC - like many other groups in Argonath, AV has also adapted their roleplay style to accommodate others.

No. We have not. We are strictly against the whole OOC/IC , /em S/F????? and (((lol i like pancakes))) idea.
We strongly support the community and Argonath Vision as an official clan of Argonath. We have been around long enough to know what should be in the community, what shouldn't be and what both owners want in the community....and we will continue to support both owners in any decision they make as an official clan of Argonath RPG.

And you shouldn't do a comment at all about it since you dont know what's behind it.
And you shouldn't do a comment at all concerning my statements since you don't know whether I know it or not.

Protip: I do know all the story with all the details. And I won't say more.

The entire reason we have Hydra/Hunter on the server is because cops don't know how to work together. Sadly

Dave - I'll repeat for your benefit - from what I gather, the owners have assessed the threat of IC/OOC and have concluded there is no requirement to make it a rule set in stone.  All those who continue to detest this practise including you must accept the fact there is no rule outlawing IC/OOC. In turn you and others continue to accept jeopardising your stance within the community in line with current Argonath rules.

Jcstodds - excellent post, I hope many others can see the light in your viewpoint.
