Fully automatic firearms are banned federally, not by state.
Not in Nevada

You really don't get it.

Let's wait for someone you know to get killed that way.. we'll see what you think after that.

Lately these shootouts appear much like the daily rush-hour.
Where is this part of the world coming to?

I've actually felt the opposite which is why I feel the way I do. Put stricter limits on who can get guns and how to properly lock and store them. 15 years ago, my cousin stole my uncles gun and while playing with it with a group a friends shot and killed someone point blank on accident. This is why I know the main problem of gun control is how easy it is someone who shouldn't have access to a gun and not the fact of guns in general.

Not in Nevada

Federally means Federally. Just like weed is banned Federally, Cali still permits it to some degree. In the same sense firearms that are fully automatic are federally banned in every state and persons in states that "allow" fully automatic weapons can still face federal charges if pursued by FBI or ATF.

Lately these shootouts appear much like the daily rush-hour.

Part of the world? Read this:

Additionally compared to other countries with gun ownership we have strikingly the largest amount of gun ownership than any other country, to support many facts we would assume that the United States has the highest gun violence due to this correct? Actually, again here the case if false. There are countries with close to equal gun ownership and far surpass our violence in guns, and even some that are above us that have far less guns per citizen. So the hypothesis more guns equals more gun violence is a mere false theory.

I'm not saying we don't have an issue. You are more than correct, these incidents are becoming way to common and it is way beyond acceptable and something needs to be done. I use to go out all the time and the thought of having something like this happen was never on my mind, now its something I think everyone thinks about now in the back of their head.

Certainly. I can know how a resident will feel, paranoid because it could happen in his neighbourhood...
I hope that the ones that can, will take action to this.

They are still banned federally for civilians. There are ways to get them as civilians, but that involves a long process of going through the ATF which would include various background checks and other things. You can't just buy a fully automatic weapon like you could a shotgun or any other long rifle.

Someone I knew did get killed. If he would of been carrying his .40 like he usually did, maybe he'd still be here. My view on guns haven't changed at all.

Careful what you say next.

I understand that my message was provocative and could hurt someone. That was the purpose (not that I want to wish death ..).

And your view is completely wrong indeed. Keep thinking you're living in the far west, maybe that's just what Americans want.

No it's not what we want. In a country where guns are in excess it becomes a necessity to have one yourself just for piece of mind IN CASE anything were to happen. Most people will not ever have to use their gun(s) in self defense, but there are those who do. Guns will never be banned fully in the United States as per the second amendment of the Constitution. So if guns won't disappear the only logical thing to do would be get one yourself.

Majority of people won't be affected by a violent crime directly in their lifetime. But for the ones who are affected, a firearm seems like a pretty good means of self defense when that happens. I carry a gun everywhere I go, does that make me a bad person? No. I myself have been affected by a violent crime, and I resolved it. Wanna know what I used to resolve it? A 12 gauge shell.

All of you have some twisted image that America is a warzone and everyone is carrying a gun on the street. Just because some freak thing happened where some psychopath goes and shoots up a school doesn't mean our whole country is like that. Guns have been part of America since this country was discovered. Yes, there are those who ruin it for all of us and do some stupid shit like shoot up a school, but you gotta think how many people who own guns are actually gonna go do something rash such as that- A very very small percentage. Yes, regulations could be better. Yes, some people don't need guns. And yes, we need a better way to control guns. But guns will not ever go away. Perhaps it's an American thing, but you gotta realize no matter what you say it will not get rid of guns.

A gun doesn't go off by itself. It takes a person to pull the trigger. And it's all up to that person where that bullet will go. Just like the old saying goes: Guns don't kill people, People kill people.

That's the price of what you call(ed?) freedom.

And if freedom implies innocent kids getting barbarically murdered in the place that should be the symbol of their protection, then feel free to keep that freedom for you.

What you said is right, but still.. you all gave up. Taking guns out of the game is difficult? Where will you go thinking that way? Nowhere.

Even starting to slowly demolishing this part of your culture would be a great sign. That's a huge work.. but if you don't start you'll never get the job done.

Honestly? Your missing the point of a view here...you know my opinion then your opinion my cousin was murdered with a gun you seem to believe that the answer is ever so simple and right in front of us, I can assure you if that is what you think then the only person who is wrong here is you, I'm still amazed by how you can simply criticise a view.

The man in front of me might be carrying a gun so i should carry one aswell.

Am i the only one that thinks that statement is very wrong?

Just imagine yourself sitting in class or at work and some messed up boy (that is having a bad day and access to guns) shoots you right between the eyes.
Or wait, even worse, shoots your wife or kids, taking their life for no reason.

Wouldn't you think for a second if that same boy woulda done something this awfull if he didn't had that gun?
