Qatar 2022 World Cup
‘Leggings are NOT pants’: Qatar puts its foot down with dress code as it launches advertising campaign reminding female tourists what not to wear.
- 'If you are in Qatar, you are one of us': Qatar aims to educate tourists on modesty
- Men wearing shorts and singlets in public will be frowned upon
- Women should also avoid wearing garments which are too short or too tight, such as mini-skirts or sleeveless dresses
- Imprisonments for a period of 6 months for gesture, reciting songs, utters etc
muslims who visit other countries (such as Europe, US) and cover up head to toe, wear burka (bin bag), scarf etc, doesn't these offend European and US cultures and values?
Europe, US and other non-muslim countries must ban all types of outfits that does not belong to their culture.

This is not true.
Usually, Muslims bring their culture wherever they go, if that country has more Christians they will complain how there aren't enough mosques, how people are disrespecting them by asking "Are you muslim?" and other similar non-offensive sentences and they will most likely constantly tell you what is haram and what is not.
-
GL trying to find enough prison cells. If anyone actually turns up that is.

Respect the countries culture I guess?

You know that Qatar is one of the world richest country, so dont worry about that. They going prepare for that =)
btw...check out their brand new stadiums for the World cup 2022 =)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-z2jtUS9-Y
http://www.qatar.to/stadiums/World-Cup-2022-stadiums.php
'' Under its proposal to FIFA, Qatar will build 9 new stadiums and renovate 3, with the 12 venues divided among 7 host cities. The 7 host cities are Al-Daayen, Al-Khor, Al-Rayyan, Al-Shamal, Al-Wakrah, Doha and Umm Slal.
After the Cup it is planned to dismantle parts of the stadiums and send them to developing countries to make 22 new stadiums.
Climate controlled stadiums
Qatar's bid organisers say that the stadiums will be zero-carbon emitting and climate controlled (The Fifa World Cup is always held in Europe's off-season in June and July, and during this time Qatar's average daytime high is in excess of 40 °C). The stadiums will take measures to reduce solar radiation and warm winds, and provide soft air conditioning to provide adequate climatic conditions (these measures have not before been deployed on stadiums of this size). ''

One of the many reasons Islamic countries aren't respected, what a shame.
-
Respect the countries culture I guess?
This exactly.
Not to mention France has a ban on headscarves and there are still many other European countries working on it. ;)
This is not true.

lol, so you're telling me approximately 1.6 billion people complain about non-Islamic countries and get butthurt when people ask them ''non-offensive'' questions? :app:
It's the country's choice. Don't like it; don't come. They're the richest country in the world anyway ;)
-

This!! :app: :app:
IF we take World Cup in South Africa as an example they forced us to hear this annyoing sound of venezuela. They said ''This is have something with our culture to do''

Usually
Imagine thousands of people from Europe wearing long sleeves on high temperature, half of them will get heatstroke.
-
IF we take World Cup in South Africa as an example they forced us to hear this annyoing sound of venezuela. They said ''This is have something with our culture to do''
Its different to show your culture, different to limit others.
They volunteered to host this international event. Which is inviting/welcoming people from all cultures to their country. Though they are telling them they are obligated to follow Qatar's culture, and not bring their own. FIFA should have taken this into consideration when electing Qatar though...
-
FIFA should have taken this into consideration when electing Qatar though...
Qatar paid enough to prevent that from happening.
-

Dont worry about that, they have even figure it out and planned how they will fix it

I doubt that they will spend time between matches in hotel only, without going out.

Yeah, Muslims have super-powers so they don't get a heatstroke wearing longer sleeves. I'm glad I'm one of those super Muslims!!! :cop:

If you come to someone's house, it's their rules which count. It's the guest who has to take account, not the homeowner.
-
'' i got the cash lols - President Joseph S. Blatter ''
-
Yeah, Muslims have super-powers so they don't get a heatstroke wearing longer sleeves. I'm glad I'm one of those super Muslims!!! :cop:
No, those guys got used to high temperature unlike other people.
-
If you come to someone's house, it's their rules which count. It's the guest who has to take account, not the homeowner.
If I invited my friend to my house, I would not force them to remove their headscarf or force them to get nude. Just because you are the home owner does not give you rights above the law. Doesnt make your visitors, whom you invited yourself, your toy that you can force them to do anything.
Respect the countries culture I guess?
Of course. But also the country should respect the individuals' culture. It was after all, Qatar who invited these people to their country in 2022. They werent forced into it.
Qatar paid enough to prevent that from happening.
In modern days money is a big deceiver
-
Most of countries got Islamofobia which is something that they hate Muslims. Look at war between Palestine and Israel. They kill all innocent people because they want to get Palestine under control. Anyways, this is a football topic so I don't want to change it. I love these events like this because they improve cultural interactions between so different cultures, countries.
Let's come to temperature, it does matter for players who lives in cold countries like Russia! It'll be very hard to play for them. They really have to change their habits.
-
No, those guys got used to high temperature unlike other people.
Serious? Didn't you read? They have fixed some sort of Air condition to the stadium that makes it soft and cool. They have figure whole thing and planned it good. It iesn't not only 1 stadiums they have made alot of staidums around Qatar
-

This is the bitter truth. Whether you want to believe it or not
-
Qatar is somewhere improved street football. Perhaps they don't got sophisticated football level but it'll be fun to play there.
-
No, those guys got used to high temperature unlike other people.
That's more of a benefit than anything else, my friend.
If I invited my friend to my house, I would not force them to remove their headscarf or force them to get nude. Just because you are the home owner does not give you rights above the law. Doesnt make your visitors, whom you invited yourself, your toy that you can force them to do anything.
But laws differ in every country; and this is the Qatari law.
If you invite a guest to your home, he should adapt to the house rules. When visiting hour is over he can return to his own house in which he can behave as he pleases.
-

Ye, they must atleast give them a chance and see how it will be. =)
Brazil is not soo good either, it got economy problems and other stuff also much crime :/

At least, Brazil got fame with football but Qatar hasn't.
-
Yeah. You must follow the rules what you are in.
And you shouldn't treat guests like slaves.
-
And you shouldn't treat guests like slaves.
Of course. But you must follow the rules even if you don't want to do.

And you shouldn't treat guests like slaves.
So you compare an Islamic oriented legislation with slavery? :app:
At least our women don't get raped by the eyes of hundreds of men because they're walking around half-naked.
Some see a glass as half full when others believe it is half empty, depends on the way you look at it.

That's not just with Muslims, but with everyone. If 200,000 Germans come to reside in your town, sooner or later they will be requesting German schools, rights for Germans and their language.
I personally find it retarded what they're doing; it's just going to prevent people from going. They shouldn't even be allowed to host it if they're going to force something like this.

But still there is many tourists visiting Qatar every year also Dubai. And many people even go there for get a job. So its a kinda popular country =)

Yes but there is a big cultural difference. I mean if someone from Europe moves to the other part of Europe he will adapt faster than someone from the other part of the world.
-
Yes but there is a big cultural difference.
Yes and tell me what kind of big cultural difference do Croats and Serbs have, for example? Please tell me how that went in the past years in terms of civil rights and relations? You're saying it as if "Muslims want to take over", however it's not just Muslims...
-

Whaaaat? What fuck are you talking about? HAHAH!! U high, bro!

That explains why Swedish people are not happy and keep making WN movements.

My parents both moved from Morocco to the Netherlands a couple of decades ago, and they're doing just fine.
Same goes for my uncles and aunts. ;)

LOL!! What do you mean with '' thats why Swedish people are not happy'' You kidding with me? HAHAHHA!!! Sweden without immgrants is like hotdog without ketcup, the immgrants are like a engine, they make so Sweden is keep rollin.
If we take an example like Zlatan, what would Sweden nationall soccer team be without him? Or why does swedish media write ''Our Swedish hero Zlatan'' _
Just sch... and come back when you know something. Also Sweden visits Turkey more than i change my underwears. You just dont know anything about Sweden.
We got a racist guy called ''Jimmie Ã…kesson'' he is that only one who wants to stop this, but many milions of Sweden hates him. Its like around 28% procent of Sweden's population who are with him and vote for him. The rest hates Jimmie Ã…kesson
-
I know, but I'm not talking about all Muslims, just most of them.
Unfortunately for you I can name more situations which prove me right whilst you can't name one.
:rage:
That explains why Swedish people are not happy and keep making WN movements.
You've got those movements everywhere you go, even in the Netherlands where recently one of those ''WN party'' leaders was shouting ''Do you want more or less Moroccans?''. On which a small crowd in some bar responded with ''Less, less!''.
Eventually, when it comes to real talk, the members of his party can't even state a clear opinion on the situation. And even worse, the party officialy lost 13 of its members after the disgusting statement and the leader got over 10000 reports against him.
-
If you go to another country you must respect it's law and culture, it's quite simple. The world is incredibly diverse and you have to respect that.

And if I am wrong that automatically makes you right.
Just type "muslim protests in netherlands" or something like that, I'm sure you will get plenty of results that show how many Muslims can't adapt.

Well you could just look at some YT video and see Muslims shouting around.
That is more trustable than your post.

Just because you see 2 muslims shooting around, doesn't mean to affect all muslims. There is people who want to dirty the religon such like terrorists or other shit. But Islam is a peaceful religon.
But ofc there is dumb people who thinks ''Blowing up their self makes them more religious. and THATS WRONG!!!

It bothers me that a country that has never even qualified for the World Cup gets to host it. Of course, they are hosting it because they have the money, and I can't help but see it as a kind of corruption.
I wonder what they will do with the stadiums after the World Cup?
-

Oh...wait a minute! Do you think Brazil ''have the money too''' because they are hosting World cup 2014. Media have reported that many epople have did alot of riot against this year world cup in Brazil.
I guess Qatar got a chance to host it because never been on there pervious. Like cmon...South Africa got a chance to host it and they had this Vuvuzela thing.
All country deserva a chance to host it, and I think Qatar deserve it. After the World cup they going just keep the Stadiums for a other football events.
-
Brazil would rather use federal funds to invest in massive stadiums for the upcoming World Cup than use the money to improve its piss-poor public services. But yes, let's complain about Qatar treating people as "slaves" for simply asking them to respect their culture; because that's really the bigger problem here.

This is idiotic. Whenever an european or an american comes to any arab country, we must adapt, we must cover ourselves, not show any naked parts and so on blah blah blah. But somehow, when the muslims come and live in Europe or America, they demand a right to wear burkas, cover their faces and so on, and regardless the fact most people despise them for it, they still do. EU must ban Burkas..
-

This is what it comes down to. FIFA obviously got bribed a lot of f**king money for this, otherwise they would never have hosted the thing in such a barbaric backwards country.
So you compare an Islamic oriented legislation with slavery? :app:
Slavery is more positive than islamic legislation.
You know that Sweden got many muslims and same goes to Germany and Norway and Denmark. Nothing is hard, very simple.
Nothing is hard for the muslims because the governments of those countries bend over and just let them flood in.
It's hard for the native population who have to f**king deal with the effects.
Its like around 28% procent of Sweden's population who are with him and vote for him. The rest hates Jimmie Ã…kesson
28%? You realise that's nearly a f**king third of the population of the country right? Over 2.7 million citizens voting for a "racist". Yea, you've got some problems.
But Islam is a peaceful religon.
I'm trying to write a considered rebuttal, but it's hard to concisely summarise points against a statement so utterly untrue.
Oh...wait a minute! Do you think Brazil ''have the money too''' because they are hosting World cup 2014. Media have reported that many epople have did alot of riot against this year world cup in Brazil.
Brazil is hosting the world cup because they're f**king Brazil, one of the best teams in the world.
I guess Qatar got a chance to host it because never been on there pervious. Like cmon...South Africa got a chance to host it and they had this Vuvuzela thing.
Are you really comparing the vuvuzela, which is at worst an irritation, to the backwards and vile islamic culture of Qatar? A culture that's totally unwelcome in the modern world and only continues to be allowed to exist through a combination of money and fear?
This is idiotic. Whenever an european or an american comes to any arab country, we must adapt, we must cover ourselves, not show any naked parts and so on blah blah blah. It's not "other people around the world" that are getting displaced from their home to clean the streets up in time for the World Cup though, it's the Brazilians. The tourists will leave, and the Brazilians will be left no better off than they were originally, reaping no benefit from these projects whatsoever. :)
If FIFA haven't given a darn about any of that what makes you think they'd care whether or not people are allowed to wear "revealing" clothing in Qatar? And don't give me that "oh but Brazil is the home of football" rubbish, if you think that justifies spending 14 billion on a major sporting event rather than investing that same money into basic infrastructure then it shows how little you really care in the first place.
Yes, let us disregard everything that's happened in Brazil simply because "ohh em gee they're one of the best teams in the world" and bash Qatar for being barbaric because Islam that's why.

> Implying that I actually wanted the World Cup to be there in the first place, don't be ignorant.
As a football fan I agree with jcstodds that the World Cup shouldn't be hosted in a country that wouldn't even be able to qualify for it otherwise. I wouldn't want the World Cup to be held in Qatar any more than I want it held in Brazil.
I didn't say anything about extermination of religious people in UK.
Not so long ago when you were a Gvardia you were telling me to make obscene gestures about the Srebrenica massacre in your language, I wouldn't put it past you.

I don't remember doing that, seriously.

If you are going to your friend's house, you should respect their family's regulations and traditions, no matter what, and any other unfamiliar attitude by you will most probably be considered 'rude' and inappropriate. So, just deal with it, wearing short shorts and exposing most of your cleavage won't let your team win the cup, but cheering and supporting them will do. ;)
-
I don't remember doing that, seriously.
If only your memory was as strong as your ignorance.
-
Right, so we got to wear these ugly long ass dresses and women have to wear niqabs or some stuff? Fuck Qatar, f**k world cup, and f**k this world I live in. I thought Muslims are supposed to be tolerative on religions and beliefs, but nah, these days are long gone.
I'll also make sure to not sing, otherwise I'd be imprisoned for 6 months under a felony of "reciting songs" and get fined a thousand bucks for that.
Do you even know why they wear that kind of clothing? It's because first off it's white so it reflects back almost 100% of the light that sun emits unlike a black one which would absorb it and all the heat with it. So white clothes keep you cooler. Also it helps against sweat vaporizing so you wouldn't have to drink so much and it is very light and lets the air circulate. So it's a practical thing to wear.

If only your memory was as strong as your ignorance.

Unlike you my memory serves me very well, that was an inside joke between me and someone where I was actually taking the piss out of Ratko. But then I guess it's a common trait of yours to talk about shit you know nothing about, eh?

Can you actually get me a proof where I talk shit about Srebrenica.
I really want to see it.

A few members of Gvardia had to have a word with you for saying "Noz! Zica! Srebrenica!" in the CB and telling me to say it to Bosnian members of the community and people I knew IRL. I particularly remember Alen flipping out at you for the same reason, don't play the undercover bigot role now.

You said that you had some Bosnian friend and we were telling you what to say to him/her, first we said random swears and then we told you to say that sentence. It was a joke tho.
And no, I seriously didn't remember it nor could I find it with Skype search since it was over a year ago.

"Joking" about a massacre makes it no less justifiable. I rest my case.

It's amazing how you people manage to turn every topic into a religious hate discussion with more insults than an episode of Hell's Kitchen.
If you really want to delve into that, then you have to consider that every religion has its share of nuts (there are Christian extremists and white supremacists too, and Christianity has been around longer to have atrocities committed under its name than Islam) that make the rest look bad, and that western media is responsible for turning to focus to Islam when in fact, there is a lot more to reality than what the media chooses to show you.
But getting back to the topic at hand, the root problem is the matter of cultural respect. It's one thing to expect people to show respect for your culture, but it's another when you have a multinational event hosted in your country and expect all your visitors from around the globe to adhere to your customs like they were born and raised here.
-
Oh Brazil wasn't bombarded? Damn man I really went dumb didn't I?
I was talking about media or whoever made that picture, he made all of that post apocalyptic looking shit just to catch your eye.
Well you sure know how to put up a convincing act. :)
Sure he added an artistic edge to it in order to get a message across, doesn't mean that it's a lie.
But seriously guys, I would rather go to World Cup in some retarded African country than any muslim country. You have to stop living a lie, most of the world doesn't like muslims and yes it's mostly because of those suicide bombers. You guys will always say that people are bad and religion is good, but those suicide bombers were following that religion.
You'd probably feel right at home if you were to go to one of them countries instead. And lol that's as stupid as someone saying every Serb wants to kill Muslim women and children all the time, because Ratko was a Serb. Anyway, i'm sure no-one's begging for you to go so eh, enjoy watching it at home.
And yeah, you don't have to hate Brazil just because some people on this forum don't like Qatar. :v:
It has nothing to do with that, it's just stupid how you can act so empathetic towards people who might go watch the World Cup in Qatar but say "omg but no its land of football" when it comes to Brazil and the problems its people have surrounding the upcoming tournament.
Anyway I hope there is an inquiry into the decision to hold the WC '22 in Qatar, especially after some of the recent revelations of bribery and the human rights abuses previously reported.

EDIT: Double-post, delete this.

Brazil is world renown for its following of football, has won several world cups and is home to some of the best players in the world. The country has a population of 200 million, whilst Qatar is 100 times less... 2 million. Do Brazil deserve to host the world cup? YES - they are a big part of football. Hopefully everyone in the country can benefit it - especially the poor, but that is not the same issue as Qatar, which is a very small, rich country who don't really give a shit about football.

If just stating things about a country or religion provokes people, maybe that's something they need to think about.

We can't expect every individual in any group to have the same mindset as the loud voices in their group.
In a large number countries cultural identity and religious identity go hand in hand, and when they're almost considered one and the same, people's don't go about thinking 'oh this is what religion says', but they consider it as their way of life.
Anyway, hopefully in the next decade whatever customs get officially endorsed will be considerate of all people. Besides, rather than thinking about all of this from a religious POV, it might be better to think about the practicality of things. Having lived in the Middle East, I know it's not that fun wearing heavy/all covering clothes all the time; most clothes that cover the whole body just aren't suitable unless you know you're going to be covered by AC full time (like in many places in Qatar, UAE) and not in a congested space. I guess a football crowd isn't so open.
Also for host countries of any large event, while the international spotlight is guaranteed for a few weeks, the pressure's also on and increasingly they have to expend more money and resources to meet expectations.
Even the smallest slip ups are enlarged by certain cynical media outlets, which sometimes may even be the ones which you'd expect to be spared from bias.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and Sochi Winter Olympics suffered a little from this. :)
You have to respect your hosts, small or large, and really most dress codes are hardly the biggest problem - just a few seem really unsuitable.
Besides, so many restaurants, hotels and clubs all over the world demand you wear certain type of clothes if you want to gain access, and some of their rules are much more exhausting.
-
I judge people based on their religion when their religion is as judgmental as islam or christianity and they still choose to follow it.
Panda you and me both know that neither Christianity nor Islam is homogeneous. If a person is Christian then which kind ? He might be the West Boro one, might be from Church of England, Catholic. Some Christians think there is nothing wrong with homosexuals other Christians think that Ethiopia is literally Heaven while thirds think that the apocalypse started in 1914. Same goes to Islam and to it's many forms.
Now when a person says that he or she is christian or muslim that tells me basically nothing about him/her.

Clearly he doesn't know what he's talking about, following the history of the Ottoman Empire etc, it would only make sense that the majority of people in Albania/Kosovo are Muslim. I do not see how Kosovo would make it a goal to provoke Serbia by turning to Islam. If anything, Serbs used Kosovo turning Muslim as an excuse to justify actions. Think of the ethnic cleansing that took place.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but the world doesn't rotate around Serbia. Stop being a self centered prick and consider the possibility that maybe they built mosques to practice their religion, rather piss you off. Half of the mosques in Kosovo were destroyed by Yugoslavia in 1999. They could just be compensating for the loss, right? I advise you to grow up. Stop making every small thing personal. Now either discuss what the topic was created for, or take a hike

Practice their religion?
Most of them aren't *that* Muslim, they are not following typical Muslim rules such as not drinking alcohol.
I'm taking this personal? Please. If I say that Islam is bad you would all take it personally.

I'm taking this personal? Please. If I say that Islam is bad you would all take it personally.
And your point is what exactly? If this was anything to go by, a lot of people wouldn't be *that* Christian, *that* Jewish, *that* Hindu/Sikh/Buddhist or any other religion for that matter; that doesn't mean religious establishments should cease to exist. 95.60% of Kosovans are adherents to Islam, if they're building mosques and actually going then so be it. Once again every comment you make seems to be more ignorant than the last.
-

Drinking alcohol doesn't make anyone less Muslim. Quran says that alcohol is a sign from god for those who wish to see. (Sura 16 verse 65-68).

So basically, the world is "pathetic" because of what Qatar asked for? Take a huge ass chill pill. Like now..
I don't see what's wrong or hard with covering yourself from your shoulder to your knees... Just dress modestly. Oh and avoid reciting songs near public places, how hard can that be? Wearing shorts, leggings, singlets etc... is not a necessity in life you know. I'm positive you'll survive without it.
Moreover, I heard that they will permit alcohol consumption during the event. Specific fan-zones will be established where alcohol can be bought. Good news for the English huh! :P

The decision to give Qatar the World Cup (even regardless of the fact that it was as a result of corruption) is simply absurd. There's no football tradition present within the country, development of football is practically non-existent and then there's the extreme heats. Couple this with the fact that you're going to have to cover yourself as if it's winter, and you see the problem. Suppose you could just always cool yourself off with a nice, crisp beer... oh... wait.
Blatter has already admitted it was a mistake and is now trying to cover his sorry ass. FIFA need to get him removed and stage a re-vote for both 2022 and 2018. I'd certainly like to see Australia given the event - a nation with ever-growing interest in the sport.
-
ABS ? In my ass!!

That's not even Ronaldo O.o
*boohoo*
No, it's pathetic because football fans are forced to comply to all that religious bullshit in a freaking world football cup. I've always said that there is no place for religion in two things: sports and politics.
-
*More crap*
Everyone is forced to comply with their rules, whether they came to watch football or not. It's their land, and their laws. Why the big deal? Are you there to model your clothes? Check girls out? Show YOUR abs?
No god damn it, the whole purpose of this is to watch football, cheer for your team and enjoy it. I'm sure whatever you wear won't conflict with the "purpose" huh?
Oh and please don't throw that "It's too hot" crap, nobody is forcing you to show up wearing a jacket. A t-shirt will do just fine.
-
It's their land, and their laws. Why the big deal?
EXACTLY! Now why was there such a big deal when European Union tried to ban burkas and other kind of muslim accessories that cover your face and make you unindentifiable and so on? Isn't it exactly like you said? This is our land, therefore you must either blend in with our culture and get over it, or leave. Why we MUST obey their rules in their land, even when we're only visitors, while they can't obey OUR rules on OUR land and respect OUR culture, when they not only visit, but also when they LIVE here? (I'm reffering to the muslims that live in EU countries and protest bans of Burkas). WHY? Why we must agree with their shit and they mustn't agree to ours? WHY?
-

Umm wearing a burka is "part" of the religion. Therefore it might of have offended them..
(Actually, a burka is unnecessary only a hijab will do but meh, that's a whole different story here.)
Anyway wearing shorts.. Singlets...Skirts are not part of any religion, thus disallowing it shouldn't offend anyone.

If that's the place where you have to forget all the politics, wars and such why do they have to put religion in the first place?
And the funniest part is that you go to jail for not respecting god.
-
If that's the place where you have to forget all the politics, wars and such why do they have to put religion in the first place?
Such laws are enforced in every public place, and you're obliged to respect it whether you'e in a stadium, a restaurant or a park., it's not like they just came up with such rules to piss football fans off.
And the funniest part is that you go to jail for not respecting god.
Breaking a law will result in punishment, weird huh? Such a complicated system.
Nobody forces you to believe in god, just don't -disrepect- god. Now that shouldn't be hard unless your life revolves around disrespecting god.
-
Then Qatar is disrespecting other religions, what if some woman converts into other religion, are they going to jail her for not believing in their god?
If he truly exists let god punish them. And yeah as far as I know god gave people free will - believe or do not believe, who are those people to take you to prison for chosing not to believe?
-
Nobody forces you to believe in god, just don't -disrepect- god. Now that shouldn't be hard unless your life revolves around disrespecting god.
Please tell me how wearing a t-shirt and a pair of shorts is disrespecting god.
.
Breaking a law will result in punishment, weird huh? Such a complicated system.
A law system revolving around fantasy is laughable and absurd. Even more so when not even applied correctly. What is the logic in considering female drivers illegal. What kind of law, puts you in jail for wearing a t-shirt. What kind of justice system is that. How do you expect people to respect such a law system? Sharia is extremely out-dated in the 21. century world. Don't expect people to respect it. Because Sharia has no respect to anyone, except itself. Even though it is really hypocritical, as the Qur'an orders Muslims to respect all religions.
Had God willed, they had not been idolatrous. We have not set thee as a keeper over them, nor art thou responsible for them†(6:107)
Practice their religion?
Most of them aren't *that* Muslim, they are not following typical Muslim rules such as not drinking alcohol.
Thats not for you to say. It's not you who determines how "Muslim" people are. Its between the people themselves, and the god they believe in.
-
Then Qatar is disrespecting other religions, what if some woman converts into other religion, are they going to jail her for not believing in their god?
Unfortunately, they definitely would jail her. Maybe even give her the falaka
If he truly exists let god punish them. And yeah as far as I know god gave people free will - believe or do not believe, who are those people to take you to prison for chosing not to believe?
^^^^^ This is the biggest corruption in Sharia law.

-
Just wow. What kind of ignorance is this
Not ignorance... -_-, just truth.
-
Not ignorance... -_-, just truth.
So, you get to wear a towel on your head because 'god ordered you'. Sure. Do what you believe. But you are naive if you expect that disallowing shorts and skirts wont offend anyone. Just as it is your right to wear a hijab, it is my right to wear shorts/tshirts.
Not ignorance... -_-, just truth.
I pity how narrow your mind is. Keep in mind that your religion is not above others'. Do what you want with yourself. Dont go around talking bullshit, claiming that shorts are offensive to your religion and should be banned. So what if I wear shorts. How does that bother you? If me wearing shorts tests your religion, then you should review how strong your belief is first.

So, you get to wear a towel on your head because 'god ordered you'. Sure. Do what you believe. But you are naive if you expect that disallowing shorts and skirts wont offend anyone. Just as it is your right to wear a hijab, it is my right to wear shorts/tshirts.I pity how narrow your mind is.
Sorry but learn to read. -_-
I agreed with him, i am not saying that my religion is superior. Corey was right, shorts..skirts etc. are not part of any religion so no one should be offended.

It offends non-believers that are forced to follow your religion.
How is t-shirt offending you, just explain me that. Do you hate to see human skin, is it gross to you?

Nothing new here, this is what every gulf country with oil and money does. Much like what every Arabic country does, those who are "citizens" have the rights to nearly do anything, even drive unlicensed and avoid trouble.

Corey said that shorts and t-shirts are not part of any religion so there would be no problem in banning them and you agreed with that.
So I'm asking you, how do you get offended by looking at human skin?
-
Please tell me how wearing a t-shirt and a pair of shorts is disrespecting god.
Um. All I said was disrespecting god will get you in trouble.
So please sir, do tell me where I said that wearing a t-shirt and a pair of shorts is disrespecting god..... Quote it, go on.
Well it's not part of my religion and I see no reason why should I obey someone elses gods.
Well if it makes you "feel" any better, take it this way.. You're following the law of the country. Better? Trust me, you're far away from following our religion by just following a umm -dress code-.
Just wow. What kind of ignorance is this
Do you just love quoting more than once and replying with more crap just for the sake of increasing your post count?
I pity how narrow your mind
I pity you so much....x9999. Umm... As "narrow" as you claim his mind is, at least he uses it . You on the other hand probably got yours "on hold" huh?
So, you get to wear a towel on your head because 'god ordered you'. Sure. Do what you believe. But you are naive if you expect that disallowing shorts and skirts wont offend anyone.
Please, write me a book telling me how much it offends you when someone disallows you to wear ... Shorts.
Dont go around talking bullshit, claiming that shorts are offensive to your religion and should be banned. So what if I wear shorts. How does that bother you?

The eye is the spy of the hearts and the messenger of the intellect; therefore lower your gaze from whatever is not appropriate to your faith...
Shorts / skirts etc.. are not offensive to our religion, Let me explain to you why it's better to dress modestly. We do so to prevent ourselves from looking at the opposite sex in a lustful way, and we must dress so that we are regarded with respect. The sight of a beautiful woman in a revealing dress may bring feelings of unwanted and inappropriate arousal. I hope that answers you.
Oh and before someone decides to play the "fool" card and say: " Oh not our problem if you get turned on easily ".. Keep that for yourself.

What is wrong with that? You are preventing yourself from having a good time.
You are pretty much supposed to look at opposite sex in lustful way.

Well I'm guessing by "good time" you're referring to sex before marriage eh'? Well fornication(zina) is a grave sin, so no thank you :D.
Oh and studies show that having sex before marriage causes an 80% higher chance of divorce... If you want to have no family life.. Have a "good time" ;P ( Just saying haha )

You really hate your freedom on this world, don't you?
This is why I hate every religion, people believe because they are afraid, not because they like it.
-
That conclusion though... :
You really hate your freedom on this world, don't you?
Right...
Anyway
This is why I hate every religion, people believe because they are afraid, not because they like it.
Umm what? I LOVE my religion.. and I definitely fear god.

Still kinda sad :( poor people!
-
The World Cup should have never be hosted in Qatar and I hope it is withdrawn. Australia or a joint Scandinavian represantation would have been a much better candidate than the World Cup awarded to a corrupt corporation with not even considerable football tradition. Not to mention people having their rights oppressed.
Keep arguing about religions and traditions, how people should do this and that while all of you miss the big picture. This World Cup will be built on oil and blood.
-
I heard Qatar payed $5 million in bribes to win this.
-
Oh and studies show that having sex before marriage causes an 80% higher chance of divorce... If you want to have no family life.. Have a "good time" ;P ( Just saying haha )
And studies shows that 49% percent of marriages are ending up in divorce. So what's the point of even getting married?
Marriages that is forced or made by parents, cash or family in general is not a marriage for me. You love who you love, you should not be told who to love and who to marry based on what your religion is, what ethnicity or how much you get if you marry someone.
And to be a little on the subject, asking fellow visitors to show respect by wearing thick and warm clothes in extreme temperatures is not showing your guests respect. Learn to respect other's way of living, no matter which race they have or what religion they salute. Just as much as we (let's say Sweden) respect other religions and other ways of people's life highlights. As much as we respect people wearing burqa, being homosexual and whatnot in our country, let people be exactly how they want in YOUR country. It's not even by showing you respect, it's about welcoming your visitors and let them be exactly as they are.
You host one of the biggest events in the world, and it's not about you feeling good or bad about people's clothing - it's about hosting a marvelous event and letting all these people enjoy it in your country, exactly as they are. Open your eyes and respect other's way of living, not only your own.
-
Umm wearing a burka is "part" of the religion. Therefore it might of have offended them..
So? Who gives a shit really?
Get over it basically.
I definitely fear god.
What a sad existence.
-
Yes i am going to be the dick here.
The last couple of days have shown cleary why politics and religion are forbidden on many forums, and we have decided to extend it to this community once again.
Not only does it cause conflicts between people, but also people have no limits on their disrespect for other nations and beliefs.
My personal opinion is never to look at the past but look at the present. Unfortunately, it is clear that not many share this. A country is bad because of what their leaders did 20, 50 or 500 years ago to another country. Another country is good for the same reason, even if it was bad before.
In the end, the country that was attacking least and suffering most is told to be the worst, as people only hear about its side from those who are more agressive.
As of now, all discussions about politics and religion are forbidden, and any open display of support for NAZISM is a direct reason for a ban.
If you disagree, you are welcome to leave
-
It's horrendous, just how clueless and brainwashed and selfish you are. Its not really your fault though. You were just unfortunate to be born into an indoctrinating, unquestioning part of the world.
Please, write me a book telling me how much it offends you when someone disallows you to wear ... Shorts.
Its my right to wear whatever I want, it's my most natural human right. Why should I change the way I dress because of YOUR religion? Your religion does not concern me. Does your religious view mean more than mine? Besides, Wearing shorts isn't indecent clothing.
It pisses me off that you say that I shouldnt be offended so casually. It just shows how narrow minded and ignorant you are. Stop looking at the world from your own indoctrinated point of view. You are human. Your most natural behaviour is to be curious. Look at everywhere in the world, not just the Islamic part.
Let me explain to you why it's better to dress modestly. We do so to prevent ourselves from looking at the opposite sex in a lustful way, and we must dress so that we are regarded with respect.
Not everyone is shallow. Some people actually wear tshirts and shorts for their function: Comfort. Unfortunately you obviously do not have an expanded world view, and are commenting on stuff you have no idea about from your little cave.
The sight of a beautiful woman in a revealing dress may bring feelings of unwanted and inappropriate arousal. I hope that answers you.
Then dont look at her. Control your urges. If you fear god as much as you say, a woman wearing a dress should not break your willpower. If it does, then maybe you should be questioning your faith. Rather then taking it out on a woman who wants to feel some comfort in 40 degrees Celsius.
Look at this from another angle rather your own. To sane people, covering all up in blistering summer heat of Qatar is unhealthy.
News flash to you my friend, a skirt and tshirt isnt a mating call. If you perceive that it is, maybe its just you who has a perverted, dirty mind.
Now, let me try talking in a language you may understand:
“Let there be no compulsion in religion.. †The Holy Quran, Chapter 2, Verse 256.
See that? The god that you fear and believe in is telling you something. There is no force in religion. Let people wear and do as they like. Thats an order from your god. Dont be hypocritical and listen to him, eh?
And to be a little on the subject, asking fellow visitors to show respect by wearing thick and warm clothes in extreme temperatures is not showing your guests respect. Very well said man. Much respect.
What a sad existence.
Agreed

Alright i cant fucking stand this, please stope quoting the Qu'ran. By quoting just one verse does not prove your argument, there is always more to it, ALWAYS. And if you haven't read the Qu'ran yourself then please shut the fuck up and stop compressing the actual meaning of the verses.

I have read the Qur'an. Most of my life I have been Muslim. I am not compressing meaning. I merely quoted it and explained it. Yes there is more to it here you go :
`There shall be no compulsion in religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing` The Holy Quran, Chapter 2, Verse 256.
Its called Surat Al-Baqarah in Arabic, and I know it by heart. Dont be judgemental. If there is ALWAYS more to it, please elaborate your thought
Also, its called Qur'an, not Qu'ran. :)

First of all, i am not here to discuss any religion or religious books. Secondly, by saying there is always more to it i meant that sometimes people quote a verse of "Qur'an" and explain it the way they want and obviously change the whole meaning according to what they have to prove.
I have been Muslim
What?
P.S Its been a long time since i spelled Qur'an right :P

Well, i can't force you to believe in God however you should learn to respect others belief. No one is telling you to believe in God or any religious book but instead telling you to respect others cultures and belief.

No one has to respect other peoples' beliefs. Thats totally fine. But you must respect the people who hold these beliefs, after all it is their most natural right. I respect you for being Muslim. I respect Christians. I respect anyone who has faith in what the fuck ever. Though, I expect this to be a mutual relationship. I expect you to respect my right to wear whatever the fuck I want.
Though, you people are really laughable. Bitching and moaning that some European countries are banning hijabs (In order to conserve secularism) while you guys are casually declaring that shorts should be banned. And the reason is simply claiming they are not necessary in any other way then seducing the opposite sex. Pretty hypocritical, huh?

Coca Cola, Sony and Adidas - main sponsors of FIFA - demand that an investigation would be placed on whenever Qatar has been chosen to host the world cup legally. Couldn't be more happy.

So in your opinion it is not perverted to look in a lustful way but it is perverted to practice modesty?
Well you interpreted that completely wrong. Do you guys really not see the fucking stupidity in placing a dress code like that, in a country with scorching heats, just because the sight of a pair of legs might make you bloody lustful? I mean, really!?

That's how you manipulate people duh.
-
Why is everyone so fussed about whether or not the world up is meant to be in Qatar?
The main point is that the world cup held here will make history... Just look at the stadiums, Qatar will bring a unique feeling to the already standardized world cup.
Qatar will also most likely get rid of these dress codes for the world cup.
I personally can't wait until 2022.
-
Qatar will bring a unique feeling
Especially for people that live in cold areas, I bet they never got a heatstroke.

Want to fight against heat? Wear same clothes the locals do, they know how to freaking deal with it. If you expose your bare skin, it will feel a lot hotter than wearing something that covers your whole body and is white and loose.

Here's the conclusion: Qatar citizens don't wear summer clothes because their imaginary friend will be mad at them.

Keep this as a warning, another post of disrespect towards the country, religion or an individual won't be tolerated.

Like it or not, this isn't Qatar problem, and fingers shouldn't be pointed at Qatar (when it comes to people having a problem with this).
They wanna protect their culture and tradition, and no matter how much its unacceptable for most of the people( including myself to be honest), its their right and I respect that.
All fingers should be pointed at one of the biggest fucking Mafias in the world, who made the most beautiful game we all loved into a massive corporative shit, that's getting more and more ugly everyday, and their entire organization including the people on the top-FIFA.
Cause of those Vampires, football as a game has ran out of its course, it lost its soul, its principles, its glory, everything is about earning another dollar over the profit if its possible in anyway by any costs. They don't give a fuck about the game, they don't give a fuck about the emotions of millions (if not billions) people, they don't give a fuck about clubs, they dont give a fuck about developing, they dont give a fuck about anything, and they're ready to go all the way to the end, if someone offered them just another dollar over the top, they would implement a 3rd goal post without hesitating a second.
The WC in Brazil was a refreshment to watch, they didnt manage to fuck it up so much like they did in South Africa and Japan/S.Korea, just because it was hold in Latin America where people and fans still manage to save that football spirit and emotions toward the game plus they hate globalism and hold that rebel atmosphere, but the Qatar WC is just gonna be the death sentence of the football we know.
Ps-I know I wrote so much 'fucking' in this reply, believe me every single one was needed.
